angst is good
I adore FMA but never got into the fandom. Never had the urge to read the fics, search for fanart, nothing. I was always content with just canon. While doing my usual random LJ browsing, I came upon a rec for an FMA fic. I don't know why I clicked on the link, but oh boy am I glad I did.

lukassa) is a Scar/Ed post-TV series fic that is...wow. Not having watched the movie, i can't compare how AU it may be, but I could accept that this was Ed wandering around Europe looking for the way back. His single-minded and bull-headed devotion to getting back to his brother is so right on. There, he meets Scar. Their interactions are wonderful. I didn't know if it was going to involve sex, and wouldn't have missed it if there wasn't...but there was, and the sex was so laughably IC (in as much as these two characters having any kind of sex is "IC"), I was glad it was in there. And the end. Oh my god, the end. O_o
By Sightless Lightning by Kinslayer (anax) is a Ed/Al fic that I somehow wandered over to. This one was sad and desperate and disturbing. I felt terribly sorry for Ed, because he was conscious of everything and so, so desperate.
I don't think I want to bother searching for more fics, since I don't have the patience to read the not-so-good to find the good. Maybe I'll go rewatch the series...Speaking of which, I hope the DVD of the movie comes out soon. It feels like I've been waiting forever. *sighs*
