'Syfy' is trademarkable, though, while 'Sci-Fi' obviously isn't. I believe it's also part of a re-branding effort, perhaps in hopes that viewers won't keep saying "Why is the Sci-Fi channel airing a wrestling show?"

So, yeah, corporate greed + corporate stupidity. XD
