Doushiyoumonai keredo by Natsume Isaku

I adore Doushiyoumonai keredo volumes 1 and 2 by Natsume Isaku. It's about a salaryman and his boss and their romance. It's cute and silly and fun. I love that though the two aren't perfect, neither are they irritating. Shimano, the salaryman, isn't just any salaryman. He's the son of the company president who will someday succeed his father. He's good-looking, smart, good at everything. His boss Kurokawa doesn't treat him particularly well, but Shimano comes to appreciate Kurokawa's gruff kindness. Yeah, it's been there, done that. But it does conventional so well. And they make such a cute couple. It also helps that I really like this artist's style.






Love the little touches like the panel where Kurokawa touches his lips to Shimano's neck. And how the encounter ends with Kurokawa insulting Shimano ("Fast, weren't you?"). This was a random sexual encounter pre-romance.






Shimano frazzled when he realizes that he may not have to give up on his feelings for Kurokawa...And worries that this might be the first time in his life he's going to be desperate...




I love love love this spread. I don't have the image editing skills to patch the thing together, but I think you can get the idea. I love how Shimano's hand in the foreground is so large, and the way it's limply holding the cigarette...

I'm sure it was a color pic when it ran in the magazine. What I'd give to get a color version of this...






Kurokawa bitches about the sensual "pink aura" about Shimano lately but ends up being smacked over by a "pink aura" moment...And drags the clueless Shimano home for sex...




The two are apart! Shimano waits for a call from Kurokawa! But doesn't call from his end!

Obligatory onsen sex. With yukata falling off the shoulders, of course. XD




Omake bit at the end. Kurokawa comes home tired to a sleeping Shimano (he looks so innocent and sweet!). He "refreshes" himself at Shimno's expense (Shimano wakes up thinking he's drowning).

Vices and device is scanlating this and I love it! One of a few mangas that I'm looking forward to impatiently ^.^ I like their silly first encounter. The dynamics between them changes harmoniously, they are in turn to have advantage over each other, I also like how Shimano isn't a tsundere uke. The characters are really loveable, even Kurokawa'ex is a decent woman ^__^ If only I know which magazine the suposed-to-be in color insert come from. Nice pose isn't it, I like it pretty much the same way you do (and Shimano-kun looks sooo manlyyy here *snicker* XDD)

Oh, I forgot to add that it was being scanlated! I love that Shimano is not tsundere. I don't mind tsundere for the most part, but they tend to be so insecure and immature. Shimano has his problems, but he's a pretty normal guy. Kurokawa's ex is SUCH a capable career woman, and I loved how she stalls Shimano's dad re: marriage. I'm not sure if there will be more past volume 2. I'm hoping there will be more (especially since half of volume 2 was about some other people I couldn't quite care about...).

wait wait! Shimano's dad is going out with Kurokawa's ex??!!! wow it's such a huge gap in age, and won't it be really awkward bwtween the 4!? XDD I'm looking forward to it. I love how she knew right away that Kurokawa had a thing for Shimano-kun even when she was till with him, I guess this is not something Kurokawa would tell her, would he ^_^
According to bakaupdates.com the series is still going on, meaning vol3 is coming out, how I wish the scanlator would accelerate the speed a bit ^^;

I've just skimmed throu vol 2, I like the cover, and the black & white double page insert as well, Shimano-kun looks very cute, next to a Kurokawa very relaxed, I like that air about them ^.^

looks like I can't wait for the scanlations to come out when you tempt me like this XD Vice and Device finished the first volume I think.

About vol 3, err I rubbed my eyes 3 times when I opened the mangaupdates' Doushiyoumo page. It's just me or now the manga's status "complete"? where did I see the manga "on going" before!!? T_T

Oh yay. This is one of my favorites as well. I've read the first volume that is scanlated so far and liked it. It is pretty conventional in theory, but it does it really well like you said. I think the lack of extreme characterizations either way is part of the reason I like it. The whole pillow aspect was pretty adorable too.
