the joys of rereading

I sort of reread the Deadlock series by Aida Saki today...Oh, the details are so hilarious! I just can't get over the disgustingly lovey-dovey crap Yuhto and Dick say to each other. One bit that jumped out at me because it apparently didn't register in earlier readings was when Yuuto mentions wanting to go to In-N-Out Burger when he gets to LA in the second book because he can only have it when he's out west. Oh how I can relate! One of the things I love to do is hit In-N-Out when on the West Coast, along with Trader Joe's.

Reading Rob's at times outrageous words and actions almost makes me want to check out his spin-off book. I also wouldn't mind reading something about Yuhto and Dick's happily ever after life together saying really disgustingly sweet crap at each other (and Dick looking like a kicked puppy when he thinks Yuhto is mad at him).

Possibly my favorite Rob line: Wanna do more than kiss? I'm quite confident about my size.

How can anyone say this with a straight face?!?

And Takashina Yuh's art is so pretty. The eye candy is pure joy. XD

I actually finally read the Rob story. It was...part OK, part stupid, and part hilariously stupid. XD You probably wouldn't like Rob's love interest, because he's pretty tsundere. I actually liked him, except that he spoke all super-polite, which made me picture him being all super-polite in English, which is lame unless you're Data, so...lame.

Chara has put out a couple booklets that have short Dick/Yuuto stories in them, so you might be able to find scans somewhere? If not, let me know, I have...umm, not sure, two or three of them, so I could scan them if you'd like.

It's not that I dislike tsundere. I do like tsundere if they are not severely so and/or are balanced well by their partner. Usually authors go overboard with the tsun part and drive me nuts, tho. :P

I can see the super-polite in English thing feeling unnatural and lame, but then most of these characters don't feel much like Americans anyway....

I might still read it but with very low expectations. Hopefully I'll either be pleasantly surprised or I won't be too disappointed.

I've seen two excerpts from booklets, one when Dick first meets Yuhto's brother and another about Ned(?) and Tonia in jail. Are there more?

Haha! I guess they're so much better than some other "American" characters I've encountered that it didn't bother me too much. (Though it did annoy me in this book that Joshua is a vegetarian because he feels like, as a bodyguard, meat weighs him down too much. Huh?)

I think there are a couple more. (I've sorta lost track of what I've read myself. >.>;;) I'll check what I have and let you know.

I found one in the 2008 Chara booklet, it's about Tonya and Paco (Yuuto's brother), but it's Dick/Yuuto, too. I honestly thought I had more of them, but I can't seem to FIND any, so maybe I just saw them in a shop and dreamed I bought them. XD;;
