sleepy...

I bought a daily calender featuring cat cartoons. This one baffled me. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

I borrowed the first box set of Avatar: The Last Airbender from the library and watched the first disc (three or four episodes). Wow, I can truly see where the fan anger about the movie casting is coming from. It's one thing to see random screen captures, it's a whole 'nother thing to see the cultures in action and think that this has nothing to do with white people. In any case, it's fairly entertaining but not captivating so far. By far the best character at this point is Katara. It's nice to see a strong, nice, sympathetic female character. I found the boys far more annoying. Aang I could forgive because he's obviously really just a kid. Sokka in general is okay, he just needs to shut up with his sexist crap. Zuko is truly annoying. I'm know sooner or later we'll see what made him the way he is and all, but at this point I just want to see as little as possible of him. :P

I was highly amused reading [livejournal.com profile] seperis's post reacting to the article "Wake Up, Geek Culture. Time to Die" by Patton Oswalt in Wired. I'd heard about this article and didn't think I needed to read it, and her reaction doubles that down.

I bought a new camera. It is very awesome. I've been taking waaaay too many pics of my cat with it. ♥

...That cartoon is just a bit incomprehensible.

Maybe like Cat-Scan = what the cat sees? Instead of a real CAT scan, which is the imaging technique.

Otherwise I have nothing.

I'm thinking I'll never understand it. Perhaps the comment below is right and it's just a bad comic. ^^;

...isn't just making a bad pun on CAT scan? I.e., what you'd see a cat thinking about if you could get a look into their brain? Bird, food dish, mouse hole, bunch of string, etc. Or perhaps "when a cat scans the room, these are the only things that will register for it." I don't think it's a very good cartoon, really. XD

I just don't know. I agree that it's not very good. :P

I adore Avatar TLA. <3 All the characters grow on you as the series progresses - and I love how they incorporated so many aspects of different East Asian cultures in the show, it's so well researched. :) I hope you keep watching!

Oh, I plan to! I will get through the first box set at least, to give it a chance since so many people like it.

You could always send it to comicsidontunderstand.com?

I don't think it's worth it, frankly. The website is kinda interesting, tho.

Avatar definitely gets better as it goes along. Not that it starts out badly, but I definitely didn't get what all the fuss was about until somewhere in the second season. Zuko, especially, is just plain irritating until his character starts to change, and then he's awesome!

(Yeah, I didn't get the cartoon either. I think the interpretation of "what a cat sees" must be correct.)

I'm definitely going to watch a bunch of episodes to give it a chance. I've already watched some more and am getting less irritated. I think the first four didn't do any favors for the characters.
