those who depart...

Just watched Right of Left. In a word (or three), it was good.
It featured the saddest and most depressing confession of love and love scene ever. Seriously. That it was so calm and gentle made it a thousand times worse. If only they had toned the music down just a little, it would have been perfect.
Actually, I think the music in general for this entire series is overpowering. Absolutely beautiful, yes, but sometimes less is more. Really, it is.
I love Ryou's VA, Miyano Mamoru. I haven't seen anything else he's been in, but he has a soft and sweet, yet strong voice. Works very well in the role.
On the whole, the OVA was probably too short. But it focused on the important stuff and worked well for what it was. I found it funny that they didn't bother with any of the other pilots....We don't even learn their names for the most part. ^^; It's interesting seeing the main cast of the TV series interact with the characters in this OVA. Especially after seeing the end.
I love the scene at the end when all the adults were listening to Ryou's message, their faces in their hands. That brief glimpse was enough. I can't even imagine what they are feeling, and how they felt when they had to send out the kids in the TV series.
On a SouKazu side note, the scene where they pass each other in the hallway at school was so telling. I do love how they give you enough just from one short glimpse or scene. Good storytelling, there. Sometimes elaboration isn't necessary.
Like I stated earlier, it was good. Depressing, but good. *sighs* Makes me see the end of the TV series in a bleaker light, though.
