Vaguely depressed

I read up to volume 11 of Mirage of Blaze, which ends with a really horrible event. Things had been going downhill for a while, and I decided I would skip the pain and suffering and get to "the good stuff" (the sex) in volume 20. I knew from glancing at that volume before that things had basically hit bottom by then, so I figured things could only get better, with the added bonus of sex scenes.
Well, volume 20 starts an arc that was really great reading, even though Naoe and Takaya were apart for like half of it. Great new characters and a very interesting plotline. I went on a marathon reading spree and skimmed to the end of the series, to volume 40. By the end my eyes couldn't focus on the words on the page very well, so I just tried to get the gist of the main players in the end game, basically Takaya, Naoe, and Nobunaga.
The end was of the series was...so, so Japanese. It blows my mind how Japanese it is. It, frankly, depressed me. Japanese endings tend to do that to me. Now I feel awful and it's late at night and I don't know if I can sleep because I feel...so sad. I wish I had something that could distract me, but with my eyes screwed up I can't read stuff anymore. It's even hard looking at the screen right now as I type.
