Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] petronia mentioned a musical group called Arcade Fire. At the time I had never heard of them, and just kind of let it pass. Well, this morning while listening to the radio on the way to work, NPR's Morning Edition had a feature about the group. It was a great introduction to the group. While they played clips of their music, it was mostly about the group's background and a bit of an interview of two of the members. It struck me how coincidental it is--yesterday was the first time I had ever heard this group, and today I get a small but nice introduction to them. ^_^ NPR has an audio archive of the feature here---it's way down at the bottom, titled "Montreal Band's CD a Tribute to Departed Relatives."

Yes, yes, I'm spamming, but too bad! I had to share this...my local morning newspaper has a front page article about donations and pledges for the tsunami victims...four paragraphs in, I read "U.S. Secretary-General Kofi Annan told the gathering that the world is in a race against time to get food, medicine and supplies to the neediest."

Ha! Kofi Annan secretary general of the US! What a blunder! Not only in terms of just simple editing but politically...I don't think either Annan or the administration would like that at all. ^_^ On the front page, too...

I eat my own words. This was surprisingly interesting watching it a second (and third and fourth) time around. Hayami Sho comes across as reserved and perhaps even arrogant, but I now think he's fairly warm as he speaks. He is more reserved, but I don't think it's fair to compare him to Seki, who is just plain engaging. And the contents of his interview are fairly interesting as well. Once again, this summary is by no means complete, I have only related the parts that interested me. :D

As a random sidenote, I adore that picture of Naoe in the interview...he looks good. Damn good. Poor Hayami-san just should not be put next to a picture of him. :P

and onto the interview )
