mangaaaaaa!!!
Feb. 24th, 2005 07:36 pmWell, I got a box of goodies and was very wrapped up in them and with RL these past few days...finally am commenting on some of what I got. :D
Aruji no oose no mama ni (As my master commands) by Zaou Taishi was made up of two original short stories (along with a extra story for each) and a whole bunch of side stories from her existing manga. The ones based on previousy published manga were very obviously from doujinshi, because they are more explicit and well...kind of silly. I wasn't too impressed with the original stories. They weren't bad, but they weren't great, either.
Bokutachi wa asu ni mukatte ikirunoda (We will live for tomorrow) by Zaou Taishi, on the other hand, was hilarious and silly and a lot of fun. This features the most...violent and dominating uke ever (with a corresponding wimpy seme). Tasuku has been in love with his childhood friend Ryuuta for a very long time, but how does he interact with the object of his affections? By being very violent. He is always kicking, punching, knocking out Ryuuta (they are both black belts in karate, and each move is so kindly written out so that we the readers would know what they are), and basically treating him badly. Ryuuta, being the puppy dog type, takes the treatment and keeps coming back (for more...the masochist...). In any case, Tasuku finds out that he may have a certain power and thinks he'll be able to net Ryuuta by using its appeal (having given up long ago on ever getting him on his own merits, since he was a guy and very, very violent to him). In any case, they do end up having sex because Tasuku forces himself on Ryuuta, giving him a blow job then getting on top of him and preparing himself and then riding him...yes, a case where the seme does basically nothing...in fact, he's overwhelmed and confused...Even later, when all the typical misunderstandings and things that have to happen in this kind of BL manga are sorted out (not the least of which is Ryuuta finally actually realizing he likes Tasuku back and is proactive, instead of just being swept along) and they are a happy couple, Tasuku is totally in charge in bed. When Ryuuta expresses reluctance to have sex, Tasuku is irritated, quickly removes all of his clothing and jumps him, saying "I'll make you lose control again" while licking...
Well, I went on and on about that one. ^_^; It's really funny, though. And I get tickled every time I see totally-dominant-uke!Tasuku glaring at Ryuuta for being reluctant and taking things into his own hands...
Koicha no Osahou volume 3 by Sakuragi Yaya was absolutely wonderful, as usual. I love her art, I love the expressions she draws on her characters, and more than anything I love the way the story is going. I love Tokumaru's cute hairstyles, Hasune wilting in the heat, and on the more serious side Tokumaru's struggle to figure out his future...
The Yukikaze manga was evil because it made me go O_o and confused me and (the worst of it all) made me want to read the novels...but I resist! In any case, I won't try to do any kind of explanation at this point because my brain is mostly mush. It was interesting seeing episodes that happened in the OVA done very differently, though in many of the cases I think I like the way the OVA handled those scenes...
I was going to blather on about the novels I also read, but I'm too damn tired. >_< Traveling on planes and being in the sun really sucks the energy out of me...
