I've heard a lot of good things about Gerard and Jacques by Yoshinaga Fumi but had never actually had a chance to read it since I don't use IRC. But since a poster on ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
yaoi_daily so kindly put up YSI links to the two volumes (yes, the entire story!!), I took the opportunity to download it....and boy am I glad I did. The manga is great. I'm sure everyone and their mother has read it already, but just in case....YSI links of my own for volumes 1 and 2. It's been a while since a new manga has just made me sigh in happiness at the end. If you haven't, read it (an unhelpful somewhat explanation of the story here). It made me forget my troubles and weariness for a couple of hours, and really made me want to scanlate. The English is smooth, and doesn't seem off (when I say off, I mean when there are those lines that make you wonder what was really said in Japanese). I actually stayed up slightly later than good for me last night, translating. I even woke up feeling pretty good. Of course, that feeling only lasted for a while today but better than unrelenting horribleness.
As a random bonus, a lovely piece by a French composer (because the manga is set in France), the Poème for Violin and Orchestra by Ernest Chausson. Anyone got some good recs on French music, classical or no? I have very little.
