fic still consuming my brain

Some I've been reading recently. It's becoming harder to find the OMGTHISRULEZ fics as I continue on my obsessive reading in the fandom. I may resort to reading random fics at archives, which can be a very very painful thing.

First off, the (very very) good:

Crimes Against Humanity (Parts 1, 2, 3 and counting) by seperis is a way too hot and cool AU in which a good portion of the regular cast is dangerous murdering psychotic criminals locked up in the prison colony in another galaxy called Atlantis. Everyone is so evil and twisted and just totally into the whole death and destruction thing. Great stuff, and it almost makes up for the fact that I desperately want more Teacher’s Pet (how can crack turn out to be so serious and good? HOW?).

The random pretty good:

Two fics by ladycat777 that have wonderful descriptions of flying and being a pilot, respectively: Impetus and Kiss By the Book. The latter even has a very lovely kiss.

Another fic about John’s relationships, mostly with various things that fly: A History of Flight by quettaser.

Conviviality by sajinn made me laugh quite a bit. The difference between the utterly bland explanations the team gives in their debriefing versus what really happens is just...classic. I love how "nice" is the blanket description.

Architecture of Trust by _inbetween_ is a gen fic with a very cool structure. I love the images of buildings interspersed with the definitions.

The bad (and I mean bad yet entertaining, not bad in a good way):

Not the Daddy and it’s sequel It’s About a Baby, and These Bad Guys, and What Happens When it All Comes Together by kodiak_bear features sort-of mpreg and lots and lots of angst and tragedy and shit-hitting-fan. It goes from one improbable scenario to the next, with decent writing but total disregard for logic and reason, and it's funny. I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be funny, but it is. I ate this fic up.
