how i love the crack

The Roads Never Lead Where They're Supposed to Go by eleveninches is a B-movie Ficathon Challenge fic that is...brilliantly B-movie. Even if the characters probably weren't IC, they were fun. The story flowed, and was appropriately wacky. The reasons I loved this:

1. John as a botanist. A radical drug-dealing environmentalist botanist.
   
2. Rodney not in charge of the scientists.
   
3. Sumner the asshole who tries to run Atlantis with an iron fist.
   
4. Carson as...um...Carson is brilliant in this. OMG.
   
5. The whole everyone thinks certain persons are a) gay and b) involved no matter how much they deny it (and even though they are telling the truth).

Fourteen Years by Hth hth_the_first is a wonderful, wonderful Ronon/John fic. It covers fourteen years of Ronon's life, seven while he was a Runner and seven when he was at Atlantis. I am very much a McKay/Sheppard (and gen) fan, but I have a soft spot for Ronon POV Ronon/John fics that aren't just smut. You know, love, or at least deep respect and caring. This hits the spot, and I love the way it switches from Runner to Atlantis.

Also by Hth, Release Mechanism, which kind of has semi-noncon but I love the thoughts going through Ronon's head and the dialogue between him and John during the sex.

Speaking of Ronon/John, after rereading The Adventures of John Doe and the Hot Stranger by nel_ani, I figured I'd check out more of her fics and found out she wrote one: Uncomplicated is a very cool Ronon/John fic where they spar with both body and words. I like how their different perspectives on things are really highlighted in this fic.

On the McKay/Sheppard front, I've already mentioned Six Degrees of Transformation before, but hadn't read all of her other ones at the time. They are all pretty good. I enjoyed Sucking It Up. It is the imperfect first time. OMG it's funny. I mean, stuff like: "What are you, the worst gay in history?" and “Yes, Rodney, that’s it. I guess you are a genius.” and “Shut up and let you *work*?” I love that not all gays like all things, that things can go wrong during sex and it isn't the end of the world, and first times can be retarded guy bonding moments. XD
