I must run to work but oh my god I must mention The New Math Parts 1 and 2 by Corinna because John/AtlantisJohn/AtlantisJohn/AtlantisJohn/AtlantisJohn/Atlantis (Rodney's in there too, but not in a threesome kind of way...or is it?...hm...) I am too in love with this even as I laughed at John's utter dorkiness. *flails*

Perhaps I need to cut down on reading before going to work. It's very bad for my punctuality.

ETA: More reasons to love the fic. First, references to Hawaii! Squee! You really can snowboard on Mauna Kea in the winter, you know. Second, exchanges like these:

“You look beat, sir,” said Lorne.

“I was just thinking the same thing about you, Major. If I could send you guys off to a bar in town tonight, I would.”

“If you could, sir, we’d go,” said Sergeant Davis.

fic thoughts

It depresses me every time I see a rec for a fic that I know is good but I just can't love. I'm greedy, I want as many fics to love as possible. I can dismiss the fics without merit very easily, but the ones for which I can make a list of it's good points and still can't love? I totally feel like I'm missing out and I'll make myself reread it several times to make sure I don't love it. :P

Also, I am very much on board with the idea of podfics. Even in their imperfection, I love the sound of the human voice bringing fics alive. I almost feel like trying to record my favorites to listen to in the car (oh, how they can make the commutes fly by), but that would mean getting the equipment to record. I assume one wouldn't need the author's permission for a personal recording.

How to Reduce Negativity by lemonbella is funny funny gen. I think anyone with any kind of imagination would start laughing just from reading the summary: "In retrospect, contracting a business management consultant to review the personnel interaction on Atlantis wasn't the best idea Elizabeth Weir had ever had."

Like a Long, Slow Nervous Breakdown by Speranza is, um, really cool. I like fics broken up into pieces like this, different scenes spliced together, connected by the snark, the tension, the always forward momentum of needing (whether it's staying alive or sex). I especially love the snark.
