5 steps to taming materialism, from an accidental expert is a great post that would normally spur me into a frenzy of decluttering...if I had the time. The comments are fascinating as well. I already know what's important to me--my books. I got rid of a lot of my DVDs and videos in my last cleaning orgy because I wanted space for my books, not the video stuff I rarely touched.

Viewing American class divisions through Facebook and MySpace was very interesting to me because I have absolutely no contact with MySpace or Facebook. Is she right? I thought everyone used MySpace, for some reason. It's just plastered all over media and the banner for social network sites. (I didn't even know Facebook had been restricted to college students. I feel so out of touch. :P) The subject of class in America itself is fascinating--I always hear about how class is difficult to define (though mostly in the context of business-related news); I think I need to learn more about it.

I was delighted to learn of the existence of Bat Boy: The Musical. Bat Boy, as in the character that often appeared on the tabloid Weekly World News (it stopped publishing a print edition recently). I vaguely remember standing in line at the checkout counter and seeing front page headlines featuring Bat Boy. I heard clips of some of the music, and it's pretty damn catchy. The lyrics are hilariously ridiculous. There is a cast recording out...I kind of want to buy it...
