I needed something happy and Asterisk 2 by Morimoto Shuw was just the thing. This continues the adventures of the angels Kio and Flower, of which I had written about previously...Unfortunately I can't find the post to link to. :P In any case, this is one of those stories where the angels have roles in the human world. Kio's job is to exorcise Manihis (I wish I knew how to romanize this name ;_;), souls of dead humans that have turned bad and attached to living humans, and send them off to heaven (do all souls go to heaven? That's what it seems like in this manga...). Flower is a higher ranking angel that follows Kio around and helps him out. They are BFF from when they were wee little adorable angels.

In this volume begins with the fallout of Flower's confession that he had been elevated to an even higher position as one of the seven chief angels. Kio ditches him and goes back to earth by himself. Flower follows, and they have more encounters with Manihis. We meet several childhood friends of Kio and Flower as well as their cute animal companions (that have a role in the manga, but I primarily think of them as excuses for the artist to draw cute animals), as well as a new kind of Manihis. As usual, lots of coolness and cuteness and heartwarming sweetness. XDXD

I love how honest and straightforward the characters are. Kio is strong and forward-looking and brutally honest (he can't stand not having every bit of truth in his reports, which causes him to lose points so he can't ever be promoted). All of his friends look up to him. Flower had always been behind all the other angels, but he had worked hard to be of use to Kio, which is how he had gotten to his current position. He had always been protected by Kio, and he wants to do the same for Kio now.

I am much happier now. ^__^
