coming late to the game again? tales of mere existence

Haven't posted in (what feels like) forever so I thought I'd share something that's probably old news to most of the internet but totally new to me. I was introduced to it last night at a friends house...

Tales of Mere Existence are cartoon videos (I can't call them "animation") featuring simple line drawings and a deadpanned voice by some guy named Lev. The ones I've seen are mostly self-absorbed and mopey and whiny but really, really funny. Some of the ones I liked so far:

Procrastination: The story of everybody's lives.

Subtext: Also the story of many people's lives.

Pickle: A bit risque but mostly just funny.

Another one I liked is called "My Successful Friends," but I can't seem to find it online. I saw most of these through the DVD that comes with the comics sold through the site linked above, including that one I can't find. :P

I love the headline that a BL vampire manga is being turned into a live action drama. Presumably there will be hot young guys angsting? I haven't read the manga so I really don't know much about it...

Talking about angsting, I'm trying to figure out what appetizer to take to a party tomorrow. I've been looking online and drooling over various tasty recipes, but I keep having to do a reality check and assess my cooking ability (low) versus recipe difficulty (aka how easy it'd be for me to screw it up somehow). It almost always comes out very badly for me. :P It doesn't help that some people at the party are a) professional cooks or b) very good non-professional cooks. I'm sure they won't bash my efforts, but still...
