days long past, never to return

I heard an old interview with Charlton Heston that was replayed because he'd died. They mostly talked about the famous movies he'd been in. He said that they'll never make those grand epics with thousands of extras on set ever again (like his movies or Lawrence of Arabia) because it'd be way too expensive. For the scene where he leads the exodus out of Egypt in The Ten Commandments there were 8,000 people and 5,000 animals, and they could only shoot about five takes a day because it took hours to get everyone back to the starting point. That just blew my mind. That truly was epic movie-making.

manga and books, oh my

Geez, I finally got Flesh & Blood 11 and...It has no illustrations! Even the color insert is a sad manip of the cover! After four months of waiting that's what we get? This volume better kick ass!! Of course, I won't be able to read it till the weekend...*sighs*

On the upside, I just read Vol 3 Ch 7 of Totally Captivated and enjoyed it SO MUCH. Click for more babble about the chapter. )
