Arg. A lot of good things happened last night and today, but one really really annoying thing made me want to bang my head against the wall. I checked one of my regular Hikago fanfic sites and found out it had closed yesterday. That sucks in and of itself, but I can get over it. What is driving me nuts is that I was buying her doujinshi, and she had two parts published and was going to publish the third and final part of it...and now it won't be? I have to write to her to confirm this, but it is really irritating to have bothered to BUY her doujinshi and not have the story concluded. *sigh* But I won't dwell on it too much (or I'll TRY)...

I will be able to read a new manga series tonight thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mirichan called Sakende Yaruze! by Takaguchi Satomi. I've never heard of that one, though I've actually read several of that artist's manga (admittedly I'm not that big a fan of hers. I like her art but the stories and characters never did suck me in. Utsukushii Otoko was lacking something, Shoubu wa toki nI...un daro? was pretty good but not screamingly so, and I don't really remember the non-multivolume manga she has done...she did write the story for Koi no Kawaki--it was drawn by Honami Yukine--but the story wasn't the strong point in that manga either...). Well, we'll see. It comes highly recommended so I'm looking forward to reading it. Incidentally, I did found her website, which lists all her works with cover art...

Yesterday I listened to the other Mirage CD drama I have (thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] mirichan :D), Washi yo, Ta ga tame ni tobu, an original story set after volume 9 of the novels. Damn, very nice. Brings up elements from the volume 5.5 side story about Takaya's past, some lingering things between Takaya and Naoe from volume 9, and throws in stuff from Kagetora and Naoe's past to boot. Naoe's declaration that he is the only one that has the right to hurt Takaya/Kagetora made me laugh, both in amusement and in exasperation. Thank you Naoe, you are an insanely proud and...well, just plain insane man. What 400 years can do to a person's head...

And being on a CD drama roll, I decided to listen to Yabai Kimochi (known as Desire in its official English translation) and discovered that the voice actor actually made me like a character I didn't care for very much. ^_^ I never did care for the seme, Ryoji...I thought of him almost like a cad...I know he wasn't deliberately disregarding or not thinking about Toru's feelings, but...in any case, I didn't really care for him. But the voice actor (bless him whoever he may be) just made him seem very, very straightforward and simple, and it was kinda cute. I can now see his attitude as "I want you, I'll make it good for you, let's jump into bed, come on it'll be fun" rather than a more coercive and selfish pushing (though there are still elements of that). I now see his character in a new light and thus like this manga a lot more...so I had go to find the novel and reread the second story (which happens after the events in the manga). Of course it was not easily found, and I had to go digging in my piles of books and manga to find it. I did eventually find it, and one good side effect was that you find things only when you are looking for something else phenomena occurred and I found my copies of the manga version of Yabai Kimochi, as well as Kirai Kirai mo (which I couldn't find a couple nights ago to my great irritation). I am now in the process of rereading it, and boy am I enjoying it a lot more now. ^_^
