Yes, I'm still working on the manga. Finally got around to revising the rough translation I did so long ago. :P I've already done chapters 03, 04, and 05. Only chapters 01 and 02 to go.
p158
"Major, we've lost contact with B-3."
"What's going on?"
"We believe she's been shot down by JAM."
p160
"A fire? There's no fire!"
"?"
p161
"For as long as I can remember"
p162
"Things like railroad bridges or television towers were irresistible to me."
"I had to climb them if I saw them."
"By the time I was 15 I was such a scoundrel"
"I would take my dad's rifle and shoot waterfowl from the railroad bridge."
"My dad had a methodical personality, so he used to count the rifle bullets"
"And when he'd find out I took the rifle without permission, he'd hit me with a vinyl hose."
p163
"Though the guys in town were all nosy liars, I really did like the way the town looked, as well as the sun that beat down on it."
"But..."
"Hey"
"Doesn't it get tiring? You know, talking like that."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"I was blathering."
p164
"If we don't somehow make our way out of here, or find Yukikaze"
"We're going to die."
p165
"What happened? You aren't going to talk anymore?"
"About what?"
"The rest of what you were talking about."
"About me?"
"Yeah."
p166
"It diverts my mind."
"How far did I get?"
"About shooting waterfowl with a rifle."
"Oh yeah. After that I--"
p168
"Yukikaze?"
p169
"Submit Yukikaze's training flight schedule."
"Yukikaze might have landed at a base somewhere. Can I send the FRX on reconnaissance?"
"I will leave the flight course to you...but we haven't received word that Yukikaze landed at a base on the front lines."
p171
"!"
"You poor thing. The food must not suit you."
p172
"I reported that you were safe to Faerie Base."
"I am Major Yazawa."
p173
"This is TAB-14. You ran out of fuel and landed here."
"When we were attacked by JAM our communication equipment was destroyed, and we were thought to have been annihilated."
"You don't look like you believe me."
"Don't worry. By the time you're better your plane's repairs will be finished and we will return it to you."
"But we have one problem. Your plane..."
"She's Yukikaze."
p174
"Excuse me. In short, we fear that Yukikaze may self destruct if we touch her due to her safeguards."
"Won't you release her safeguards?"
"How is Lt. Burgadesh doing?"
"..."
p175
"The Lieutenant is seriously injured. You can see him when he's better."
"Rather than that,"
"You don't seem to be eating--"
p176
"The food doesn't seem to be palatable to him."
"..."
"Lietenant, we will have some appetizing food prepared for you."
p178
"!"
"What are you doing!?"
"It's food. Something that you can eat."
p179
"Give some to Lt. Burgadesh as well..."
"Unfortunately"
"Lt. Burgadesh has died."
p180
"What?"
"We had to do it so that you could live."
"I don't understand what you're saying."
"We made him into soup. The soup that you drank."
"That's a lie!"
p181
"It was for you, Lt. Fukai."
"Rather than that...you're fine already, right?"
"Cooperate with us."
"With what?"
"Are you feigning ignorance? The release code."
"...I can't."
p182
"I don't want to force you, but..."
"It can't be helped."
p183
"!!"
"Gah!"
p186
"Lt. Burgadesh? You're alive?"
"You..."
"It can't be!"
p187
"JAM!?"
"!"
"Shit."
p189
"Shit!"
p190
"!"
p192
"Stop it"
"Yukikaze"
p193
"What is this?"
"Major, a large amount of data is being transfered from somewhere!"
"What's happening?"
"Unable to control her, Major!"
p194
"She can't be controlled!"
+++++
I liked Lt. Burgadesh talking about his childhood, and Rei wanting him to keep talking (even though he shut him up at first with his rudeness). Though in general I really like the way the manga presents the story, one thing where I prefer the anime over the manga is how in the anime Lt. Burgadesh's fate isn't explicitly stated yet very obvious. I think that works way better than saying, "We made him into soup."
