wow, non-Japanese TV for once

A couple of my friends are watching the TV show House, and one commented that I'd like the main character. After some details I decided to give it a try. Since my eyes started un-focusing while reading, I thought tonight was a good night to give it a try. I kind of skimmed the first couple, but started more or less watching after about episode 5. I do like it, except for that annoying effect when they go into a person's body and shows you CG of their inner workings. LAME. I do like House, more or less. I do like the banter that goes around. But one BIG problem is that I am not liking one of the characters much. Cameron, the pretty female subordinate with the sad sad past. I had a feeling I wouldn't like her "type" of character when I first saw her, and it only grows stronger with each damn episode. When I heard a bit about her past I could only roll my eyes, thinking whatever. I'm starting to think I don't like American TV because they tend to be populated by character types that really set me on edge. Hard to enjoy a show when a character you rather dislike is kind of prominent in it. >_< I'm hoping either I'll dislike her less or she dies becomes a more likable character.
One thing that dawned on me at episode 5 is that there must be House/Wilson slash. HAS TO BE. And I was right. I read the first one I came across, Anything for Charity (aka the Tux Story) by Michelle Christian, and it turned out to be good. The wit is just flying all over the place, and I could even get over being disturbed about an actual sex scene. Many great lines.
One really nice thing is that I actually have this Saturday off! Yay, a real weekend! ^_^

Some episodes are better than others but I absolutely love Dr. House -- my friend was right there (yay, Brit actors invade American telly). Cameron makes me grind my teeth... errrrrrr. Let's vote her off the Island.
Pardon my adding my ramble to your post. OMG, you have a real weekend! Congrats!!!! xoxoxoxoxox Enjoy it!

Date: 2005-10-11 04:19 am (UTC)I wish we could vote Cameron off the island. *sighs* And yet she only becomes more important as time goes on...I just hope they don't make a mistake and make her TOO important, becuase that's when I'll stop watching. (No House/Cameron, ever, please *gags*) The sad thing is I think I'd tolerate her more if she wasn't super attractive. I'm not sure if I'm just envious or I'm just sick of having shows populated with very pretty young women...
Yes, a real weekend! That I spent a good deal of sleeping...^_^;

Date: 2005-10-11 06:21 am (UTC)Formulaic roles (i.e. Cameron) get very trite and yawnish -- which is probably why I stopped watching telly so many years ago. But I'll try anything if recced to me. And you're right -- House does carry the show although I'm not sure if I could handle another season... unless they get House shagging Wilson across his desk. ;-)
So glad you got some R&R in! HUGS
