I had totally forgotten that the Oscars were on Sunday, so I was kind of interested when the local Japanese radio station reported the results on Monday morning. It was really really funny hearing the poor guy stumble over the names of the movies and people, even as I winced. He had particular problem with Reese Witherspoon, utterly butchering her name. The best part, though, was when he described Brokeback mountain. I guess I'm used to the annoying "gay cowboy movie" tag, so I actually laughed out loud when he said it was a story about "a forbidden love between cowboys" (カウボーイ同士の禁断の愛 or something like that). It sounds like a stupid ending line for a BL novel/manga blurb (though it needs the addition of several exclamation points), but even that's better than "gay cowboy movie." Though both are better than, as one person described it, "gay sheepherder movie."

Ahaha, but you gotta admit, the "gay sheepherder movie" title is technically accurate. >D

(It's really funny how the movie's been mentioned everywhere just because it's showing at mainstream cinemas. The local non-english radio station here mentioned it too, but I was too shocked at hearing the (mangled) title to remember how they described it...)
