Climbing Fuji-zuka

My attention was caught when the people on some random Japanese show that was playing in the room I was in climbed a "Fuji-zuka." Fuji-zuka are little mounds created to substitute for the real Mt. Fuji. The JICA Tokyo Monthly newsletter June 2006 issue has a nice introduction about the Fuji-zuka (download PDF here). More background on the religious beliefs that motivated the creation of such things here (only tangentially related but rather interesting article here).
I couldn't find much information in English (and when I tried doing a search for "Fuji-zuka" I got more hits on Fuji/Tezuka PoT doujinshi than what I was looking for...Fortunately in Japanese the kanji for Fuji are different between the mountain and the character ^^;), but I did find a nice description in Japanese of one "model" Fuji-zuka in Tokyo here (at the Moto Hata Hachiman Shrine in Sendagaya). There are many in Tokyo (the same guy profiles a couple of others, index here) and all over Japan. I want to climb one now!
