Huh. Antique Bakery by Yoshinaga Fumi will be an anime this summer (Site is in Japanese).

[livejournal.com profile] serena_daragon posted pics of the newest VF chapter (currently public, she will f-lock post in three days). More Takaba abuse! I was highly amused by the oh-so-obvious "must punish the body that attracts me" vibe from shiny Russian dude. I wonder if he'll actually try to fuck Takaba? I'm glad to see that Mikhail isn't being drawn so ickily. He actually looks rather attractive, otherwise I'd have been grossed out by his handling of Takaba while teasing his buddy. I don't get this Asami as white knight to the rescue, but that look on the bottom of the second to the last page where he orders the captured dude to be brought to him was pretty hot. Love the not-slicked-back hair.

God I'm shallow. Not that I didn't know that, considering I'm a fan of this series. XD The only thing missing is Fei Long and his shiny long hair, but I suppose we got lots of Fei Long in the last chapter with his dominance-establishing foreplay confrontation with Asami...

Ugh. Seeing the decline of the dollar against the Japanese yen graphically is so, SO painful. ;_;

Kind of scary that
Pakistan was responsible for a near-worldwide Youtube blackout. Glad to hear that things got fixed very quickly, though it seems like this is the sort of problem experts have been worried about for a while?

Heard a hilarious story reporter and author Malcolm Gladwell tells about his first job in a newsroom on This American Life (Check out the podcast of it here.). I had to desperately suppress my laughter since I was at work. It made for a fabulous story, but I tried not to think about how ethically wrong it all was.

I have brought sandwiches two days in a row so that I can have a proper amount of food (while saving money)--I really hate how big portions are everywhere. When I eat everything I tend to feel awful for half the afternoon. Yesterday was egg-salad, today was sopressata, provolone, onions, lettuce, mustard and mayo. Luckily we have a toaster at work--boring sliced bread is 1000% better when toasted. XD I'm inspired to bring more sandwiches to work, and found a thread full of (theoretically) low-cost ideas at snopes. One in particular that appealed to me:

My favorite sandwich is spinach, cream cheese and sliced mushrooms on a sub bun or hard roll. Spread cream cheese on both halves of the bread to hold the spinach on one side and the mushrooms on the other, so they don't slide around. It was served at our favorite pizza joint as a "Popeye sandwich".

I stumbled across a great Japanese food blog today called Just Hungry. Some of the posts I enjoyed reading and made me salivate:

*Bacon-wrapped tofu!
*Corn cream soup with intentional lumps
*5-a-day honey mustard salad pickles
*Japanese potato salad. YUM. My mom puts brown rice vinegar in hers, though.

Another Japanese recipe I came across today: Japanese salad and dressing. I love how the writer insults iceberg lettuce and wonders how Japanese salads make the tasteless stuff so appetizing. I love corn as well, but I've never been able to find any info on whether canned corn is okay. Every so often I order the salad from the kaiten-zushi place near the office (along with boiled edamame and spicy tuna roll--the two ingredients were not combined, mind you) and it has corn smothered in mayonaise on top. I typically hate anything smothered in mayonaise, but it's hard to resist it when the Japanese do it.

I learned from reading 7 reasons to drink green tea that green tea is an antiseptic. I think I'll need to keep that in mind next time I get a cut since I don't use over-the-counter medication for minor problems. A part of me was slightly horrified at some of the comments. Putting milk and honey in green tea! On the other hand, I'm intrigued by the idea of brewing green tea with peppermint tea if your green tea isn't very good.

Though when it comes down to it, if I'm not drinking it iced I love my tea unadulterated, whether it's black or green (or anything else). But that's just me. ^^;
