Sakura Gari Chapter 5

I've gotta admit, it's going exactly as it should. Badly.


I love seeing this train wreck happening in slow motion. They can only spiral into a bad end...At least, they must. Love seeing the two angst, but more than that how they are completely unable to communicate. Souma wants the warmth Souichirou had given him but knows he's wrecked things. He punishes himself but still can't stop seeking Souichirou the only way he knows. He's such a broken thing, I want to pet him.

Souichirou can't help but lash out since he's a normal guy in a really messed up situation. I love how he hates his body for becoming aroused during the unwanted sex. I love him finally just losing it when he learns of his brother's death and realizing that Souichirou is able to fuck him even though he knew.

But more than anything, I love Souma cutting his wrists a la his mom. I love how he holds up his bleeding wrists and asks for Souichirou's approval, then falling into his arms. This so can't end well. Just can't.

Love the scheming going on with the doctor and the sister and who knows who else. Just so fucked up. May it just get worse, but not get prolonged TOO long. It needs to just drop into an abyss and END--like a guillotine coming down. Swoosh!

I am not sure where I read this but apparently she is going to make this a three book series... which if I am guessing correctly and this is only half way through, worries me a bit.

I want it to end tragically too but how much more angst and melodrama can you plonk in after one of the main characters slashes his wrists?

With Watase's track record of messing up perfectly good story-lines - I am yet to pass a final verdict. Even though - yes! This installment was brilliantly messed up ^^.

Huh, I thought it was going to be two books...What is she going to do for the rest of the series? Maybe they'll come to an understanding but are torn apart by powerful forces? And have bad things happen to each other?

Yeah, I'm afraid she'll mess things up but right now I'm going to just savor it.

I am not entirely certain about the number of volumes so I hope you are right. I think in a two volume series it would work perfectly. I can't see how after the drama of this chapter things can be sustained to this level for another volume. So far so good though so *fingers crossed*.

I'm sure Watase can put in much more angst and melodrama - after all, the two of them haven't been happy together yet! They have to be happy for some period to make the inevitable tragic ending hurt more badly XD.

I'm quite glad there'll be three volumes -there's still the subplots with Souma-papa, Souma's mother and Sakurako to be resolved, and it might be a bit of an ask to resolve these fully and get happy couple time in within one volume and not feel rushed.

it really seems that this will be 3 volumes series - HERE (http://community.livejournal.com/sakura_gari/7930.html) there is a scan and the tranlsation of the Afterward in vol.1 and Watase Yuu clearly says that she had finished the story before starting the publication of it and there are 2 more volumes to come.
From what we have now it can go many direction... and I think the next chapter will be the most critical as to how much tragedy sensei can really handle...

I totally agree with this. Totally. It'll give a clue as to where she's taking the story after such a huge event. Please please keep it going for all three volumes, Watase Yuu.
