Does Edward from Twilight actually sparkle? It kind of sounds like he does from the offhand comments I've read...I don't really care about this movie/book (except to read the hilarious parodies that keep cropping up), but it'd still be awesome. Especially if the book has him sparkling. XD

And can anyone recommend a reliable source for a DVD set of the Taiga drama Atsu-hime? I only know the places to go to for anime, and I can't spend $400 for HALF THE SERIES to get the official Japanese release...

Yes, he does. Apparently, in the book he even asks Bella "Do I dazzle you?" after he shows her how he sparkles, how "this is the skin of a monster."

I was giggling at that part of the movie. XD

That's why vampires can't go out in the sun! They don't burn up (vampires don't have weaknesses, silly!) but people would notice their SPARKLING, DIAMOND-ENCRUSTED SKIN.

Actual quote from the book:

His skin, white despite the faint flush from yesterday's hunting trip, literally sparkled, like thousands of tiny diamonds were embedded in the surface. He lay perfectly still in the grass, his shirt open over his sculpted, incandescent chest, his scintillating arms bare. His glistening, pale lavender lids were shut, though of course he didn't sleep. A perfect statue, carved in some unknown stone, smooth like marble, glittering like crystal.

ETA because I just saw this: I think we're playing Horrify the Twilight Noob (http://cleoland.pbwiki.com/Twilight#HorrifytheTwilightNoob) XD

Sculpted incandescent chest? No wonder people mock it. Sounds like a lot of fun, tho. There's only good when a character truly *sparkles*.

Yeah, looks like we are playing that game...Except that I'm not horrified. I'm amused. I'm even delighted. I love BL after all. I've gotta love the absurd.

BTW, which do you think is better--the manga or the novel of Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi?

I know, when I first heard about it, I thought they meant "sparkle" in the manga sense of the word, but no. I think that was about when I realized I needed to read it. >.>

The manga, the manga!! Oh god I hate the novels. >.< You know how bad and cheesy the Junai Romantica novels are? They're just like that, only there's none of the fun from thinking about Usagi writing them. They're just...bad. -_-;; The only reason I bought the second one was for the little mini-manga part. I'm not sure if I want to bother reading the actual novel or not.

Okay, I will stick to the manga. It's a pity the novels are so not as good as the manga. :P
