I was skimming a fandom wank post about a fanfic author who goes drama queen about how she doesn't get enough comments on her fic and threatens to delete her LJ (found via

worldserpent), when I got sidetracked by the awesome comments. It's amazing just how much time can be wasted reading other people snark about nothing at all. XDXD;

One comment asks: What's whump? Or should I be pleased I'm ignorant?

Then the random guesses that are so wrong I can't stop laughing roll in.

First comment: Considering fandom's penchant for smooshy names, I'm going to guess "whiny humping."

One response: Better than the idea I had, which was Wet Humping.

Another person responds to the wet humping comment, and then in the response to that the commentator adds a bit more:

I mean I can't figure out what wet humping would be, other than either 1. water or 2. a lot of lube. Unless they were having a threesome with a being made primarily out of water.

Okay I need to stop thinking about this now.

Another random comment in the "wet thumping" thread that I totally agree with:

I like shower fics, personally. The water's warm, someone can be slammed up against a wall, and there are shelves so that things like lube can be handy.

Then there were several responses with the correct answer. Nothing beats the out-in-left-field speculations, unfortunately.
