i love reviews that make me laugh

I love love love listening to Ken Tucker's review of Bob Dylan's Christmas album for this line: "And Dylan does make his slow, deliberate version of 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' sound more like a threat than a promise." Dylan's voice has always grated for me, but it's worth hearing snippets of the songs in this fascinating defense of an album it seems many have disliked.

Amusing book reviews by rachelmanija I enjoyed recently:

Anne Bishop: A Daughter of the Blood, aka "the magic cock ring book." I once read a one-shot set in that world while wasting time at a friend's house. It didn't totally suck, but it was stupid. Especially when it tried so hard to be depraved and awful--I laughed and laughed then.

Timeshadow Rider, by Ann Maxwell, "space opera from the id." XD;

Do you ever listen to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me? They had a thing about the Bob Dylan album a couple weeks ago; they quoted that same line you did, and Carl Kasell did an impression of Dylan's singing--hilarious! XD

(Wait, now I'm looking at the date on that article and wondering how they quoted it weeks ago...? Maybe it was a similar quote from another review. Or maybe it was Wait Wait from the future!!)

I do watch Wait Wait, and I do vaguely remember Carl singing...And it was really recent! It's the Oct 17 show (download mp3 here (http://www.npr.org/templates/rss/podlayer.php?id=35)), and the quote was from a different review with the same sentiments. Perhaps Bob Dylan *meant* it to be a threat since more than one person took it that way. XD;
