I love this anime. The blushing in this episode cracked me up even as I felt for Ritsu in all his confusion. ♥ Takano was so cool when he declared that he'd take responsibility if Ritsu failed to make the deadline. Friday's have certainly become even better with this show on. I'm sad that next week seems to shift focus away from Ritsu.
As for the manga, after some determined digging I found raws of chapter 11 and Takano chapter 1, as well as Chinese scans of chapter 10 and a rather crappy translation/summary. Chapter 11 was PURE AWESOME. Chapter 10 was cool and super pivotal, but I think the impact was lessened because I couldn't read read it. Takano chapter 1 was enlightening. I am sooo glad Yokozawa got straightened out. As I had complained before, I was getting tired of him being so down on Ritsu. I felt a bit sorry for him, but only a tiny bit, because he really had his hopes that he'd get his chance with Takano again some day. The drowned out confession was very groan-inducing, but the sheltering under the rain bit was so cute.
What I liked about chapter 11 (besides the "it's like a honeymoon" comments and the deliberate stealing of the covers) was how amazingly awkward they were in trying to make a real relationship and acting like middle school students, and how they knew they suck at it but were so happy that they are stumbling towards something now.
The Takano chapter was adorable because there is something adorable about seeing someone so resigned finding himself falling in love. That "dokidoki" moment while looking at Ritsu dorking out was perfect. And that last bit with adult Takano thinking how Ritsu was his first love, even if Ritsu doesn't know it, made me smile. But back to the serious stuff. Wow, Takano had some major issues. But then, his family's fail is pretty epic. I suppose it'd make you get past bitter and angry to something cold and sad. He really blew hot and cold towards Ritsu and makes Ritsu's (over?)reaction more understandable. I'm looking forward to seeing Takano chapter 2.
And for something completely unrelated, I saw these boxes at the grocery store and had to take a pic. Imagine a wall of about 10x8 thumbs up yetis. XD;

Date: 2011-04-30 07:03 pm (UTC)Ah-ha!! So you finally gave in and read raws for it XD I looove Takano's first chapter. ♥ Totally can't wait for the next one too. I guess it's just because I love Ritsu so much, so it's a really nice feeling to see how Takano looks at him and what he thinks of him. It really does make sense now doesn't it? I couldn't really get annoyed with Ritsu having no confidence at all if Takano loves him or not because if you think about it, Takano never really made it clear. (Even now, actually)
But yes, definitely love chapter 11 so so so much because it feels like they're finally starting, albeit stumbling but definitely getting somewhere. ^_^
Wouldn't chapter 10 make a great ending to the series? But if I can push my luck, I'd wish they'll end it at Takano's 1st chapter ^w^

Chapter 10 could totally be the end of the anime...I hope they decide to go with it, it'd be such a lovely end.

Date: 2011-05-01 07:47 am (UTC)ARGH YES, why is only the chinese scanlation available? >_<, I'm dying to find out what all the Yokozawa conversations were about. Especially since he seemed to actually manage to have a conversation with Ritsu!
I found Takano's flashbacks pretty interesting, not just because of the sheer first-love cuteness of it all, but because they show how unreliable Ritsu's memories actually are - I mean, it was pretty obvious they were just from his chapters, but to forget so much, like Takano being a jerk before...
It was also good to see why Takano is so stuck on Ritsu.

Date: 2011-05-02 06:06 pm (UTC)SO MUCH love for chapter 11! Who thought shoe sizes could be so freaking adorable. (I mean, not the shoe sizes themselves, but asking about them. You know what I mean.) They are such dorks, omg.
The drowned out confession was very groan-inducing
Well, you know, there's still 100+ days until he's (really) in love! (I agree that it was groan-inducing, but I also find it kind of hilarious.)

Date: 2011-05-03 04:51 am (UTC)I can't believe the first question Ritsu asks in his quest to learn more about Takano is about shoe sizes, yes. So cute, so silly, so perfect for them.
I felt sorry for Ritsu re: the drowned out confession as it took a lot for him to say it out loud...But then, Takano knows (and has known) Ritsu's feelings whatever Ritsu might say, so yeah.

Date: 2011-05-03 07:45 pm (UTC)It's true; he has those mysterious psychic powers that super-cool seme characters have that allow him to know that his uke really loves him and also when no means yes and when it really means no (although sometimes no never really means no, apparently, but whatever).
Still, I bet he would like to hear it, if nothing else just because Ritsu has been so adamant about not saying it.
I forgot to say this in my last comment, but I am IN LOVE with Yeti's Best. (If they made a T-shirt or something I'd be all over it.) Google tells me it's at Whole Foods, which just makes me even more resentful that there's no Whole Foods around here. *sulk*

I actually was looking to see if Yeti's Best had a website or something, because I would totally suggest to them that they should have a T-shirt made, but all I could find was a bunch of blogs and stuff of people saying, "OMG the Yeti's Best boxes are so awesome!" There is some serious marketing potential being lost here.
Oh, hey, I just found the designer (http://christycarroll.com/) who made it:
"The Whole Foods produce folks charged me with creating four unique designs based on fictitious brands for their produce boxes. I tag-teamed with David Carroll on this one, who lent his illustration talents to bring the yeti to life."
I guess that explains why Yeti's Best doesn't have a website, haha.
