lots and lots of fangirling

I love these two frames from yukie's newest comic, so I had to share...Hikaru is drunk and Akira is simply adorable! If anyone wants to see the comic this came from please check out her site. Yes, I've pimped her before (numerous times), but one can never pimp good stuff enough!
Speaking of Hikaru no Go,

In any case, I was flipping through the Get Fuzzy book I got for Christmas, and decided to share two strips that just killed me. I of course love this for the humor, but part of it has to be that I've never owned a cat with anything remotely close to this kind of attitude...and I've had a lot of cats...

Speaking of cats, I made nabeyaki udon today and put some green onions in it...nira (scallion) came to mind and then I could only hear "Nirananka ningen ga kuumon janeedarouga!!!" echoing in my head...So of course I had to dig out my Fruits Basket DVDs (it was a great undertaking...it was packed away in a box under two huge boxes full of DVDs and tapes...I was very tired afterward) and watch the episode where Tohru gets sick and Kyo makes her nira okayu after yelling (in that lovely Seki Tomokazu screaming voice) how nira is not something for human consumption. ^_^ Ah, I love that episode...and I got to hear Okiayu playing Shigure again. I adore his voicing of that character--it's so different from the other roles that come to mind when I think of him. And hearing Hatori again...I had to go look his voice up and was delighted to find out t was Inoue Kazuhiko. I love that voice, especially as Yuki Eiri in Gravitation...he was perfect in the one episode I saw of that anime (...I love the manga...I couldn't watch the anime...>_<...I wish I got far enough to hear Okiayu voice K, though).
After I was sated with my Kyo fix, I decided I needed to play something else as background as I scanned in stuff and wrote up this post...and put in Initial D. I am on like the fourth episode or so (Takumi is about to show up for the first race...I lost track of the episode numbers), and...I had forgotten how DORKY they were! Especially Iketani and his little gang. Ah, they are so cute in their serious love of racing and cars, and their pure and unadulterated dork-dom. And I love love love Miki's "Koee mon wa koeenda yo!" scream of pure fright while being subjected to bad driving. And of course how cool the Takahashi brothers are the lone cool guys in this bunch. How do they manage to rise above the pervasive dorkiness of it all? And the art is so damn ugly in the first stage...how I love this show... *^_^*
Oh, and yesterday I downloaded Tezuka's vocal album With from Tsubame Gaeshi,
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
I also got the first Yami no Matsuei soundtrack (thanks
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
I downloaded You are My Queen ("Geboku ni narimasu" in Japanese) from Hochuuami. The art is only so-so to me, but the guy just...fawning over?...the young man is...amusing, in a scary, scary way...
They also had a Sakuragi Yaya one shot that I didn't really care for, for some reason. The art is lovely, as usual, and the main character is cute...I really don't know why...*scratches head*
And I'm tired of typing and trying to be coherent and really want to concentrate on Initial D so here ends this post...*kyaaa!! kyosuke's upset!! yellsomemoreseki!*...

Date: 2005-01-10 11:28 am (UTC)Ahaha, the Initial D boys are the very definition of dorkitude. I'm saddened that their dorkiness has been reduced as the series moves along. And as fugly as the 1st Stage artwork is I'm firmly of the opinion that Keisuke's 1st Stage hair is best (in 4th Stage it looks like he decided to dump an entire bucket of hairgel on his hair every morning..you could probably bounce tennis balls off it).
I'm with you on Okiayu sounding better and better though Tezuka's songs are getting increasingly cracktastic. The Ryouma duet was great even with Okiayu dominating but I could barely hear Kaida in the Fuji duet. Listening to "Aisubeki Hoshi" I keep imagining Tezuka standing at the peak of some grand mountain while flocks of doves fly past in the background. XD;;
And what the heck is up with "Otoko no Bigaku"?? The title alone...and that's before you get to the "song" itself. Ah, TeniPuri...the universe will grind to a halt before you run out of crack.
I'm just waiting for someone to write a fic in which Normal!Tezuka meets Crackpot!Tezuka. *grin*

Date: 2005-01-11 06:43 am (UTC)I am sad that they are less dorky, but I do like that the animation during the battles is very high now. The story really shifted gears somewhere along the way, and I feel like something (dorkiness?) was lost...but that's how shonen/seinen manga goes. It starts off one way and then really transforms...sometimes in a bad way, like all those stories with good beginnings that end up as endless battles...
Many of Tezuka's songs make me sweatdrop. They are so not IC...it's like Tezuka from a scary, scary parallel universe. The Fuji part in that duet really is too soft. Too bad, since she has a very nice voice. ^_^ "Aisubeki Hoshi" disturbs me, but not nearly as much as "Otoko no Bigaku." I don't really like it. And I actually liked "We Love Seigaku" from Ryoma's last album...^_^; I am listening to the album quite a lot lately and am now stuck on "Mighty Wing"--it is an awesome driving song.

Date: 2005-01-12 07:33 am (UTC)Yeah, I was a bit hesitant with the very different tone of Fourth Stage when I first saw it and it took a while to get used to. With the focus being on Takumi and the Takahashi brothers there's not as much space left over for dorkiness. But the music and animation, especially of the races, are drop-dead gorgeous so it balances out.
I try not to imagine IC Tezuka singing because my head will explode. But then, IC Tezuka wouldn't sing so there'd be no way for them to pump money out of the fangirl hoards. ^_^;;
I love "Mighty Wing", it has such a good beat to it...that and "Hikari no Saki" are on my playlist and I hope they do more Tezuka/Ryouma duets in future.

Date: 2005-01-13 04:15 am (UTC)Every so often an image of IC Tezuka singing creeps into my head and...well...disturbs me. Yeah, hard to imagine IC Tezuka singing...chanting (as in Noh) maybe...

Date: 2005-01-14 08:34 am (UTC)Hmm...Tezuka doing Noh theatre...It'd be a good use of his voice and I wouldn't mind seeing him in those flowing robes. But with the rest of Seigaku being the chorus or playing the instruments? XD XD

Date: 2005-01-20 09:57 am (UTC)Hmm...I suppose I should get around to watching Fruits Basket sometime...along with the bazillion other series I have lying around.
I wonder if those cazy producers would mix Noh with tennis? XD
