Just read The Guide of Love (Koi no Annaijin) the manga and listened to the drama CD...heh, I love them both. A lot. The story is adorable, and the seme and uke are so...so...they are cute like the rats running around Takaoka's lab.
The drama CD is just great. Morikawa does a fabulous job as the slightly absent-minded yet super good-looking professor...the uke was perfectly peppy as well. I looked at the manga as I listened the first time, and it was nice to have the extra lines thrown in the drama CD to round out the scenes better.
For example, at 2:15 on track 3, it has a voice over of Serizawa's thoughts: "For someone coming to a marriage advising office, Takaoka-sama doesn't seem to be in a hurry to marry...And while he's a really handsome man, he's a bit absent-minded...But that's adorable...oh, but maybe calling an older man adorable is rude." And then after Serizawa takes the phone call and Takaoka asks if it isn't a lot of trouble to deal with each person individually and Serizawa smiles before he replies, Takaoka's heart thumps. As Serizawa continues to speak, Takaoka thinks: "What was that thump just now? Was it perhaps because I saw Serizawa-kun's smile? Because seeing him work hard is adorable...adorable? What in the world am I thinking?" I like that thoughts of the other person being adorable both cross their minds. :D
In track 7 they add a lot more when Serizawa wakes up and is shocked in the morning. In the manga it's only one page, but in the drama CD...the scene is so cute...
"Oh? Where is this? This isn't my room. Huh!?"
WHY? Wh-wh-why am I sleeping in bed with Takaoka-sama? Ah...that's right...last night...I...with Takaoka-sama...what should I do? It's too embarrassing, I can't face him!
"In the meantime, I need to get dressed...shirt...where's my shirt?"
"Good morning...what are you doing? Were you perhaps thinking of running away? You can't do that, Tohru-kun. I certainly won't let you get away."
"Takaoka-sama, I..."
"How irksome...We've confessed our love to each other and are mutually in love...can't you call me by my first name?"
"M-mutually in love?"
"Am I wrong?"
"...um..."
"That's why you should call me by name, okay?"
"Yes...Hirotaka-sama..."
"You remembered my name! But I don't want the -sama attached"
"But..."
"That's all right, we'll slowly fix that. Right, Tohru-kun?"
And Serizawa's closing monologue:
I am a guide of love. My job is to look for partners for my clients so that they can become happy. Of course it is strictly forbidden to to fall in love with a client, but I can't stop my feelings. My love will not be stopped already. Even a guide of love will fall in love. So, do let it pass this time. Please.
It baffles me (but it really shouldn't, this is BL la-la-land, after all) that the seme can be this absent-minded, but totally in control in bed...I can't believe he actually had sex before. I mean, I'm amazed that he bothered to. He seemed so uninterested in all of that romance/dating thing before...but I guess if he just went with the flow he could have ended up in bed...
In any case, I really like this drama CD. A lot. Did I say that already? :D
As an aside, I had to cringe everytime they said "Serizawa" in the drama CD and I'd read "Yoshizawa" in the manga...I know the problem all too well, of choosing the wrong reading for a name when translating--they even got both the first and last name wrong, too. I want to half blame the manga artists for picking odd readings...or the publisher for not giving readings...In any case, there were a couple of lines I noticed they had translated incorrectly when I was listening to the drama CD...
Speaking of drama CDs I was listening to the Mirage of Blaze one Washi yo, ta ga tame ni tobu today at lunch...it is such a great original story, but I had listened to it right after listening to "Must Be Dreaming" by Frou Frou and I had that song stuck in my head the entire time I was listening to it! So. Damn. Wrong! ARG!
