I think I fangirled myself out yesterday with all those posts...though I was very very busy today so that might be part of it. I did want to mention a couple of things though...

Mochi mochi released their translation of the first chapter of Soshite Koi ga Hajimaru by Tsukimura Kei. I compared the first three pages line by line with the Japanese. Overall, pretty good translation (though I did find a couple of places that were wrong). I think the grammar is slightly stiffer than the original, but it still flows pretty well. I do love this book quite a bit, so I hope they continue to do a good job on it. ^_^

I hope there is a big response to mochi mochi's effort so that companies can take note and maybe get a little closer to actually doing official translations of some of these novels. While, like manga, there's a lot of crap out there, there are some really good (or just really sweet) novels out there that actually wouldn't be too hard to do (unlike something like the 40 volume Mirage series...^_^;).

Names by Arccie is a cute, silly and short TezuRyo fic in English! I see this kind of dynamic between the two in Japanese fics, but never in English so it was nice to read. :D

I don't know a word of Japanese( well thats not quite right I am picking up the swear words from reading subtitles!) but it seems to me that over all mochi mochi does some of the best translating in terms of readability. Their translators are familiar enough with English that the grammar flows well, isn't overly stiff and lacks the "wrong word" syndrome that a lot of the other fansubs fall into.

Ummm that isn't why I dropped into your journal though, (however adding my 2 cents worth is a chronic problem for me) I dropped by to thank you for translating Bondz by Toko Kawai. She is my FAVORITE mangaka and that's my favorite story of hers for no easily definable reason. I think its the atmosphere. Anyways:

I agree with you that mochi mochi does some of the best translating out there. But that can't stop me from nitpicking when it comes to something I love. ^_^

In any case, you are very welcome. I did Bondz WAY too quickly in a "OMG I love this story everyone has to know what they are saying RIGHT NOW" frenzy, but people seem to like what I cranked out. And, well, I love that manga to pieces.
