trying to play catch up...

...and failing...I don't have the energy or time to really clean up and organize the various bits I wrote throughout the last two days so I stick them all under an lj-cut...

bl_dramas. As it is one of my favorite manga series, I was definitely curious (and it helps that there's no sex to skip)...even more so since I found out Takara is voiced by Minagawa Junko! I downloaded it, and while I just can't get away from the Ryoma-ness of her voice, the intonations are pretty different. Takara is so adorable! While I would have not chosen her to voice him, she is very good--I love it when she wails. XD Kiyomine is voiced extremely well by Morikawa Toshiyuki. He plays the meanie perfectly. The two of them fight really well. What I can't get over is that Okuno is played by none other than Koyasu. SO. DAMN. WRONG. -_- I like Okuno, damnit...he's been tainted. ;_;
Domestic Affairs by
clueless_psycho is a hilarious Viewfinder fic...my favorite line just might be: “You eat Pocky as if you’re having sex with it." XD
prillalar's amusing post comments on episode 145 clued me in that Anime-Otaku had finally released it so that I can get rid of that weird-aspect-ratio-and-god-awful-subtitles version I currently have. I couldn't remember the episode right off, so I started up my weird-aspect-ratio-and-god-awful-subtitles version and laughed my ass off. Ah, the bitch slap heard around the world. Still don't know if I consider it "OOC" for Tezuka to do that, but it's AniPuri, I shouldn't expect it to make too much sense. I hadn't noticed how cold Tezuka was telling Akutsu off the first time I watched it, though. :P
prillalar linked to
justacat's post on tolerance in fandom (specifically regarding fanfics), and it (and the discussion that ensued) was fascinating to read. I didn't comment in either LJs because I really have nothing really constructive to say, but it did make me think about my own practices. I am one of those read and delete the crap types. I don't bother bitching about any particular badfics because I already wasted time reading the fic, I don't want to waste more time analyzing or ranting about it. I'd rather spend the time finding or ranting about good fics. I save my rants on badness for scanlations, anyway...
Thinking about it some more, I think I'd rant about a badfic if it somehow managed to hit every single peeve of mine...something like a long, melodramatic story with mpreg, amnesia (especially the type where one person forgets only their lover) from being hit by a car while saving someone else (very likely their lover) from becoming the victim, buckets of tears and sighs, much OOC-ness, a protracted wait for the death of one of the lovers with much grief and angst and selflessness (crap like "when I die you need to forget about me") and declarations that this was THE LOVE OF THEIR LIFE and there will be no other (even if the characters are only 15 years old or so), random S&M or just plain abuse, gratuitous (incorrect) Japanese (if fic is in English) where everyone is gaygaygaygay...Yeah, if all of that was in one fic, I'd rant about it.
BTW, if anyone knows of such ahorror fic...by all that is holy, DO NOT TELL ME I DO NOT NEED TO KNOW.
Read a column in the newspaper titled Keep Hawaii's beachboys in the sand. Not only does he make a good point, but I had a good chuckle over the line: "But some things need protecting, like pandas, beachboys and, should they exist, panda beachboys." But after I stopped chuckling I began having naughty thoughts about panda beachboys along the same lines as catboys (though catboys aren't really my kink) and then kind of got disturbed because the actual beachboys are not bishies in any sense of the word (at least the ones I've seen). Do not believe all those Hawaii episodes of various sitcoms because I don't even know people who know the kind of people who show up in those things. Hot surfer dudes do not hang around Waikiki teaching and picking up tourist girls. They are elsewhere, busy doing whatever hot surfer dudes do.
I can't get over the fact that Takizawa Hideaki (aka Takki) plays Yoshitsune in the newest Taiga drama...it's just somehow so wrong to me. I think I'm too used to seeing him in his Johnny's idol singing and dancing mode. But then, I couldn't get over Katori Shingo playing the leader of the Shinsengumi either. *shrugs*
Oh, yeah, anyone who owns a Mac, any recs for a simple program that will convert audio files (like .WAV or .WMA to .MP3 or .M4A)?

Yay! ^^
Domestic Affairs was cool and funny. I loved it too! Did you read

Date: 2005-04-02 04:43 pm (UTC)For encoding .wma to .mp3 I generally use EasyWMA (http://www.carrafix.com/EasyWMA/), which is extremely straightforward to use: you just drag and drop the file and it re-encodes it for you with your chosen bitrate.
For other formats I use Audion (http://www.panic.com/audion/), which is actually a media player but also does encoding of all formats it can read to .mp3. You select in the encoding options if you want to encode to .mp3 or to .aiff, and then you just select what files you want to encode, and Audion does it for you.
Audion also does read and encode most .wma files, actually, but it has trouble playing some (they are played with glitches, for unknown reasons), so I prefer to just use EasyWMA for those.

That meta discussion you linked looks like yet another case of Issue #5422 Round #998712 to me. I wish I had the time those people seem to have to do more of the things I enjoy.
Heh, I liked that little exchange between Tezuka and Akutsu. Later, Ryouma goes to Tezuka's home to remind buchou that they'd agreed to keep the S&M to the bedroom or no sex for a week. XD
