classical music and spiral

I had desperately searched for a piano piece played in the Spiral manga (first played in volume 7, then later to great effect in volume 10). It took some doing to find the proper name of it (I only knew it as 「孤独の中の神の祝福」) but I found out it is "Bénédiction de Dieu dans la solitude" from "Harmonies poetiques et religieuses" by Franz Liszt. From the Japanese it means "God's blessing in the midst of solitude." In any case, I didn't want to buy a CD for a piece I didn't even know, so I searched for it online, and two other friends ended up looking for it too. Thank goodness for friends of friends who use P2P fire sharing, because I was able to get it. XD He sent it to me via yousendit. It should be good for another day. Any Spiral or classical fans, it's a lovely gentle piano piece. And can't you imagine angtsy gun-toting bishounen genius pianists playing this?
Bénédiction de Dieu dans la solitude
And since this is classical music sharing post, I have links to the Violin Concerto by Jean Sibelius played by Jascha Heifetz available as well. I love this piece.
Violin Concerto, Op. 47
Allegro moderato
Adagio di molto
Allegro, ma non tanto

Date: 2005-05-15 12:07 pm (UTC)I'd given up on trying to find out what piece was being played in the manga so yay! for you and your friends. XD *basks in classical music rabu* I pretty much grew up with it and spent most of my teenage years being a devout fan of ABC Classic FM (http://www.abc.net.au/classic/), which I still love dearly though I don't tune in regularly anymore. It's such a shame many people's exposure to classical music is through...furniture ads. *headdesk*

Date: 2005-05-29 07:13 am (UTC)My dad is a big fan of classical music so I kind of imbibed it by osmosis growing up. Because of my parents, I'm also far more familiar with 60s/70s/80s songs than modern pop stuff (90s onwards). It was just one more thing that made me seem a weird teen to my peers. :P
