I just wasted a lot of the weekend reading original fic WIPs, some better than others. The painful part (besides the lost time that I totally should've used doing something else) is that some of these WIPs haven't been updated in a while, which makes me think they won't be updated ever. Or be updated with rushed, dissatisfying endings because the authors' muses died.

aggybird is about the angsty, clueless, socially inept older son of Count Dracula. The full name of the fic is actually "Greg the Vampire, Or, The Saddest Little Emo Vampire and How He Found Big Gay Love and Happiness Forever, Though Not Without Considerable Angst and Bad Punning Along the Way." It is pretty damned awesome in all its glorious angstiness. Also, the monster world portrayed is rather fun.
Wrinkles Are a Nymph's Best Friend is a hilarious and much more lighthearted drabble set in the Greg the Vampire world. Imagine a nymph getting all worried about getting old and wrinkled and having to live in the mountains because no one will love him in the most drama queen way. XD
Stupid Post It Notes by Dirty-Angel-Toes is a gloriously long saga of great emo-ness about some really messed up Australian teens being uber angsty (lots of throwing up from anxiety and angst, aka how to keep the scrawny, unhealthy emo look the "natural" way) as they get through being teens and falling in love. Or falling out of love. And also, confronting and getting through past abuse. Hilarious for the most part, though at times the high emo level does get to me.
The Last Pure Human and Nature's Choice, two fics by Twisted Hilarity, are much fluffier fare. Nature's Choice is a fantasy about a thief who'd escaped from an unpleasant (though not traumatic) past and how things become very complicated for him as he learns that he likes sex with men (gods) and his past comes back to bite him. The dude just calls for some abuse, and the author starts dishing it out in the later chapters. Though...it's done with a light touch so it doesn't feel too heavy. The Last Pure Human is a sci-fi fic about a race of cat people who have to bond with someone and have sex with them to keep themselves alive (for very good sci-fi reasons, of course *snickers*) and how one of the cat people has to bond with a human (for very good reasons *snickers*). I couldn't help but love the family of the cat guy who bonds with the human. They are large and very fun. These fics are actually being currently updated, unlike the previously mentioned ones.
Also being currently updated is Captive Prince byfreece. Summary: "Damen is the true heir to the throne, but when his half brother seizes power, Damen is captured, stripped of his identity and sent to serve the prince of a rival nation as a pleasure slave." NSeeing the two princes get to know each other and learn to trust each other is rather lovely, as well as the bonding going on with the captive prince and his master's men. And fun political intrigue thrown in is always a plus!
