Papa to Kiss in the Dark 2

I wasn't able to sleep last night, so I did the only logical thing I could: finish watching the OVA and write up a summary. God, I love this OVA. It is so bad, but endearing and absolutely hilarious. Midorikawa and Miki are perfect in their roles. I also did a summary of the first OVA.
I got the torrent, which includes both OVAs with Chinese subtitles in rmvb format, from
oiyaoi. A link to the torrent on her blog. I hope to get an avi format version at some point.
Mira is in shock over the fact that Kyousuke's not his real father. Kazu asks him not to look so depressed. He comforts Mira by saying that even if they aren't related by blood Kyousuke is his "Papa," kissing his face and whispering "Even me..." Even as Mira, not having heard him, asks what he said Kazu goes for it and knocks Mira over. He murmurs,"I love you." THE SHOCK! Mira starts wondering, if his boyfriend was Kazu, would he not be suffering like he is now (I could only snicker and think, NO, this is yaoi-land. You will always suffer. But then, we need Mira doubting so that he doesn't push Kazu away immediately, right?) In the next moment they are...naked?...and Kazu is telling Mira that he's cute. As Mira lies on the bed (looking lusciously uke-ish), he notes that his body isn't trembling like when he's with Kyousuke. As he tears prettily, he wonders if it's because they aren't related. As there are odd images of a naked Kyousuke walking away from a naked Mira in a glass egg in a shower of feathers (just...weird...I think the animators were watching too much CLAMP or something), Mira continues that he had always thought that their bond was a deep and solid thing that was born from the fact that they were related by blood. Was everything simply him assuming things? "Kyousuke!" (OH THE DRAMA)
At an on-location shoot, some fans are watching. The fans comment on how Mizuki and Kyousuke look so good together, and wonder when they're going to be married. One wails that she wants to be Utsunomiya Mizuki. The shoot is going to start.
Back to Mira and Kazu. Kazu has had his suspicions regarding the nature of Kyousuke and Mira's relationship confirmed. Mira had become more and more sensual, and Kazu had noticed that Mira had those kinds of marks on him when they changed for P.E. But Kazu figured that it wouldn't really become anything because they were father and son (um...normally fathers and sons don't do ANYTHING at all...^_^;). But having found out that they weren't related, Kazu decides that he is announcing his candidacy for Mira's boyfriend. Kazu falls upon Mira (I laughed at Mira's flailing legs). Mira objects, saying they were best friends from childhood, and their relationship wasn't the kind that included this kind of thing (I don't think Mira is in any position to object on those grounds). Mira pushes Kazu away and says, "That's why, for now..." Kazu asks how long should he wait? Mira can't reply. Kazu embraces Mira and says that he's waited this long, he can wait longer (Isn't he so understanding? Mira is blessed with semes who indulge him so). Mira apologizes.
As he looks at old photos, Mira wonders what he should do as he cries some more. Mira is woken up when Kyousuke comes home. Kyousuke tells him he'll catch a cold if he sleeps there. Mira comments that Kyousuke's quite late. Kyousuke tells him he had met someone after work. Mira has cute pouty clouds around him as he grumbles how while he's been so troubled, Kyousuke was on a date. But then Mira remembers that he had been busy with Kazu, too. Mira tells himself he has to bring everything clear. He tries to broach the subject by asking Kyousuke about the family registration. Kyousuke shoots him down by saying he already submitted it. Mira figures that normally a person would wonder who their real parents were, but in his case...He wonders what he is to Kyousuke. Kyousuke finally notices that Mira is crying. He asks if Mira had been lonely watching the house by himself, which Mira denies. Kyousuke then asks why he's crying (Yay for Miki's voice!). Mira throws himself at Kyousuke instead of replying. As they have sex, Mira begs Kyousuke to not throw him away. He basically declares that he can't live without Kyousuke (Go Mira! Your impression of a shoujo heroine is right on the money!). Kyousuke assures Mira, saying it be a waste to throw Mira away. The scene ends with an impassioned "Kyousuke! Kyousuke! I love you!"
The next day, Mira realizes he's simply in love, regardless of whether he's related to Kyousuke or not. He checks to make sure the marks on his neck are hidden. He shines as he grumbles that thanks to Kyousuke he's glossy and sprightly today as well. Off to school!
On the way to school, Shun asks if it's true that Mira's Papa-san is going to get married to Utsunomiya Mizuki. He saw them together at the studio and the air around them wasn't normal. Mira denies the marriage as mere rumor. Shun laughs it off, saying he must have been mistake and runs off. Kazu tells Mira not to worry about it. Mira wants to reply to Kazu's confession, but Kazu puts him off. He starts talking about how his mother was fangirling over Kyousuke at some social gathering at a hotel. Mira is suprised to find out that Kyousuke had actually gone to one (that night with lots of sex in OVA 1). Kazu suggests that it'd be nice if his mom and Mira's Papa got married. Then they could live together. Mira imagines being in a normal family.
Utsunomiya-sempai greets Mira. Mira joyfully greets him back and they make small talk. Kazu comes stomping back and hides Mira behind his back. Utsunomiya-sempai is rebuffed by Kazu, and walks away, whispering to Mira to come visit at the student council room anytime. Kazu is holding Mira (um...middle of street, people?), telling him not to get close to Utsunomiya. When Mira asks why, Kazu asks if he's stupid. We get a cute image of an arrow piercing Mira as he repeats "stupid, stupid" in his head. Meanwhile, Kazu is telling him that Utsunomiya is after him. He has that I'm going to EAT YOU look, but Mira brushes the suggestion off. Kazu says that Utsunomiya is just good at acting, because he's THE SON OF THE GREAT ACTRESS UTSUNOMIYA MIZUKI! (Oh no! The shock! The horror! Did anyone NOT see that coming???)
At school, Mira is not buying Kazu's theory. He doesn't think that being the son of an actress makes a person a good actor. Kazu can totally see that Utsunomiya has an ulterior motive. Mira says that it's okay, since he's not even a virgin (WTF? How does that make it okay? His first time was with his One True Love so he can have sex with anyone? Or do seme vibes render him ready to be fucked readily?). He apologizes when Kazu yells at him. Kazu notices that Mira's lunch looks good. Mira asserts that it's good because he had made it. Kazu gets a bite and he's impressed. He comments that Mira would make a great wife. Mira agrees, saying he's good at cooking and good in bed....earning him a smack. (LOL. Mira is SUCH AN...AN...UKE!!)
The amusing friendship moment is interrupted by news that Kyousuke had been in an accident. Mira rushes over to the hospital and causes a scene. He throws himself on the bed and is like, you said you'd never leave me alone! When someone puts his hand on Mira's shoulder, he throws it off, saying, I'm going to die with Kyousuke! The someone tells him it's okay and to calm down as he continues on with his wailing. He finally stops when he's told that Kyousuke is alive (so he thought Kyousuke was DEAD? What did they tell him at school? I mean, HELLO. You don't go freaking out your students when their parents have had an accident, you know?). Kyousuke finally shows signs of life and pets Mira, and tells him to be more quiet in a hospital. However, he's happy that Mira's concerned for him. They kiss (WITH FOUR OTHER PEOPLE IN THE ROOM WHO DON'T SEEM TO BE BOTHERED AT ALL <--am I the only one boggling at this?). The someone who was trying to calm him down tells Mira that he can relax, Kyousuke's injuries are light. He can be discharged in a couple of days. Mira addresses the man as "Hojo-san." Hojo-san tells Mira that they should let Kyousuke rest. Outside, he explains that they didn't use a stuntman for a scene because it wasn't supposed to be very dangerous, but there was a mistake. Hojo-san figures this is a good opportunity for Kyousuke to rest. He had actually lectured Kyousuke about working too hard last night. Mira realizes that Kyousuke came home late because he was with Hojo-san, who turns out to be the president of his agency. When Hojo-san notices Mira's distraction, he confesses that he thought Kyousuke had been on a date. Hojo-san laughs and notes that Kyousuke pretends to be a playboy, apparently to fool the public (it works so well even Mira doesn't realize the truth!!). Hojo-san tells Mira that Kyousuke has always been a serious guy. When Mira doesn't believe him, Hojo-san laughs again and pities Kyousuke for being misunderstood by his beloved Mira. Hojo-san reminisces about how he had tried to argue Kyousuke out of raising Mira by himself, but he wouldn't budge. He asks Mira to treasure Kyousuke just as Kyousuke treasures Mira. He's happy that Mira turned out to be such a good boy. Hojo-san comments that he always has to hear Kyousuke talking fondly about Mira (using a word that implies that they have a romantic relationship). Mira suddenly wonders how much Hojo-san knows (I love the evil dark Hojo-san in the background). (I don't know why Mira is so worried. He just had a mouth to mouth kiss with his "Papa" in front of Hojo-san.) When Mira asks why Kyousuke had taken him in, Hojo-san doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. Mira says never mind.
Just then, Utsunomiya Mizuki dashes in, asking about Kyousuke's condition. Apparently she had slipped during the shoot and that resulted in Kyousuke's accident. I love Mira's little "I hate her" with the sword sharpening imagery. XD Utsunomiya Mizuki notices him and asks, are you Mira-kun? She starts to cry. Mira comments that he doesn't like the tears of an actress.
Kyousuke is released from the hospital. A TV news report notes that it was reported that Kyousuke's injury resulted when he was trying to protect Mizuki, and it figures that their wedding must be imminent. Mira turns off the TV, disgusted that every channel is covering the same thing. When the door bell rings, he wonders who it is. It's...Utsunomiya Mizuki! He opens the door and tells her Kyousuke is out. Mizuki had come to see him today. She cries, that Mira hates him. When he asks what she wants, she asks him to become her son. In his head, he's like what is up with this woman? In other words, she wants to marry my father? In the meantime, he's politely declining. He tells her his father wouldn't allow it. Mizuki tells him that Kyousuke had said if it'd be okay if Mira didn't mind. Mizuki asserts that she has that right. (I love misunderstandings. They provide so much angst) Mira's like, it's got to be a lie!
Sitting at the riverbank, Mira wonders why Mizuki thinks she has the right. He entertains the thought that Kyousuke had agreed to marry her...but he tells himself that that's not possible. As he looks up at the sky, there's a flashback to when he was young. Little Mira tells Kyousuke that the cloud looks like a ship. Kyousuke says he likes the cloud next to it that's shaped like a soft cream. Little Mira wants to go somewhere far away on the ship with Kyousuke. Kyousuke wants to eat ume-flavored soft cream. Big Mira wonders why they can't become happy. He's tired of it all (and is even now plotting the beautiful murder-suicide that will make Kyousuke his forever).
Mira wakes up to find Kyousuke next to him. He asks why Kyousuke is there. Kyousuke kisses him then says it was telepathy. Kyousuke then tells him in all seriousness that he actually looked for him at all the places he thought Mira might be. He didn't know what he'd do if Mira disappeared. He kisses Mira's forehead and says he had been close to tears. Mira uses the all-purpose comeback to a sappy confession: Idiot. Mira continues that there are lots of people who'd love Kyousuke, even if he went away. Kyousuke tells Mira he's the idiot. Mira is irreplaceable, and his reason for living. Mira pulls Kyousuke to him, saying "me too!" (OH, the love!)
Mira tells Kyousuke that Utsunomiya Mizuki came to their house. Kyousuke had heard about it from her. Mira asks if he's actually going to marry Mizuki. Kyousuke is confused, asking who's going to marry her. When Mira replies, Kyousuke asks why would he. So Mira goes off about how she came to the house and asked Mira to be her son, saying she had the right. But he had turned her away. Mira apologizes, since he doesn't really have the right to do something like that. He should be thinking about Kyousuke's happiness. Kyousuke tells him he should have told him about the secret surrounding his birth earlier. Mira covers his ears, says he doesn't need to hear because he already knows. Kyousuke uncovers Mira's ear and turns him around, commenting no wonder Mira was acting all weird. He then tells Mira that Utsunomiya Mizuki is his mother. THE SHOCK. It produces flying shovels and the like! Turns out she's Kyousuke's older sister (oh how cute Mira is in denial). Kyousuke goes into their past. They had lost their parents young. They were able to live pretty sucessfully by utilizing their looks. But just as her star was rising, she had a child and had decided to raise him. It was at that time that an offer to star in a Hollywood movie came in. That was why Kyousuke, who was only a second year in junior high, took him in and raised him (WTF? Is that even legal?). Kyousuke concludes the story by saying she was able to fulfill her Hollywood dream, while he got to raise a cute baby and eat him up. XD Mira asks about Utsunomiya-sempai. He's actually the son of Mizuki's deceased husband and not her real son. Mira realizes that Kyousuke and he are actually related. He pets Kyousuke, praising him for working so hard to raise him. He says he'll return the favor. He'll change Kyousuke's diapers if he goes senile, and will carry him. Kyousuke tackles him, saying, "maybe I'll have you do it from right now!" Mira does his cute flailing leg thing complaining that he's heavy. Mira asks if he can be with Kyousuke forever. Kyousuke replies of course! Mira has to pay him back properly, after all. Mira says, "I love you, Papa. Love me for as long as I live, okay?" Kyousuke replies that he certainly will. Immediately, even.
END
AWWWW. Isn't that a cute ending? It's amazing how disturbing the story actually is, and how much the obvious gay and incest doesn't seem to faze ANYONE. I like how Mira is such an uke, and seems to revel in the role (because he LURVS Kyousuke so so much!). I almost feel guilty liking this so much, but I think it's possible because it doesn't really take itself seriously. And there wasn't much sex in it (one question I have...did Kazu and Mira actually have sex? Or did they just make out?). I hear the CD dramas are much more smut-filled, which is why I'll be avoiding them. I'll try reading the books, though.
