Home Sweet Home by Yoshiduki Shouko and illustrated by Sakuragi Yaya was an aggravating book as the first half was decent. Then it got stupid. it's about brotherly incest. Younger brother has been in love with his playboy older brother for a long time. They've both been around the block quite a number of times, but in the first half of the book they end up together. Older brother even introduces younger brother as his boyfriend to his friends! And his friends (the degenerates that they are), are totally cool with it! Happily ever after, right?

Noooo. Because gorgeous first love of older brother (sexy man with amazing technique in bed) shows up and older brother starts having sex with him, too. The thing is, the younger brother is TOTALLY COOL WITH THE WHOLE SITUATION. Oh, that's my brother, he can't keep it in his pants forever, and I know he loves me, and that first love dude is HOT and his FIRST LOVE. One of the older brother's friend is the only one that's upset with the whole situation--He's so decent it kind of hurts. Older brother is as content as he can be because he has his younger brother AND sexy sexy first love, but first love doesn't play second fiddle to anyone. He makes more and more demands until he makes older brother chose between him and younger brother. Older brother choses younger brother and is rather upset about it. I'm pretty sure younger brother comforts him. *gags* Sexy first love runs off with the other guy HE'D been sleeping with.

I can't even begin to relate to the younger brother. Yeah, he'd slept around a lot as well, but you'd think he'd have some modicum of attachment and possessiveness re: his One True Love. Or is he supposed to be some enlightened guy totally cool with an open relationship? Maybe that interpretation could've been plausible and palatable if older brother wasn't a possessive prick re: younger brother. :P

Just saw it, it was the last movie of the Hawaii International Film Festival. Wow. It was very different from the TV series...I want to see it again.

One *really* nice change...The kids are more likable! And have more agency! Even Shinji!

One *really* annoying thing...Surely they had the budget to hire decent voice actors for the English parts! Why make it so painful! Me and one other guy, the two people in the group who could understand Japanese well, confessed to tuning out the "English" and reading the Japanese subtitles, it was so painful. Kaji's voice actor doing English was pretty painful as well, but at least that was understandable.

I didn't realize Sakamoto Maaya played the new girl! She was fun, if totally nuts. XD;

Also, Kaworu shows up in a really dramatic fashion! And is suitably creepy and gay!

I'm more excited than I thought I'd be...I must try to forget this movie until the next one comes out...I have no idea where this rebuild is going, it's just so different at this point. >_<
