You know one of those memes that make you grab the nearest book and post a sentence (or more) from a specific page? I saw this one:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next seven sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
6. Tag five other people to do the same.

And looked around to see what was the nearest book. It was Mahiru no tsuki 3 (the last volume of the republished series). Since it's a BL novel, I was hoping that page 56 would be a sex scene. I was not disappointed! XD It was in fact sex on an office chair!

BTW, I'm quite satisfied with the end of the series. I've been meaning to talk about this series (I've summarized the old volume 1 before) but hadn't gotten around to it. The series actually had character and relationship development so that by the end everything felt right! Plus, the author used an overused cliche in the last volume in a way that totally and utterly worked (and the difference really highlighted why the characters kick ass).

I went into work today thinking "I'm gonna get things DONE!" and instead did mindless drafting for someone else's project. It was kind of nice but still...it totally derailed the day. ^^; My brain is mush, thus I post a meme I've seen around on the flist:

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

Been trying to catch up with comments, have gotten through some but not nearly all yet. ;_;

Also, a meme I've been putting off for long enough:

Reply and I'll give you a letter and you have to find five songs that start with that letter and post them to your journal.

I got R from [livejournal.com profile] svz_insanity. I tried to pick songs I probably haven't shared before:

Rinnetensei by Core of Soul

Been meaning to share this for ever and ever, but I was having problems translating it (I like the lyrics) and, well, forgot about it until now:

Rinnetensei )

Rise and Shine by Bonnie Pink
Upbeat and disgustingly catchy song from her Golden Tears album.

Reila by Gazette
Catchy rock song from a group I've never heard of. I love the piano riff.

Redemption by Gackt
From the game Dirge of Cerebus, I initially didn't like this song but after hearing it a lot I've come to like it quite a bit.

Razor Valentine by Thea Gilmore
I thought I was going with an all-Japanese list, but I had to include this one. I love the slow, funky feel of the song, the scratchy old record sound, and the bizarre lyrics:

I love you like a whisper
I love you all alone
I love you like a murder babe
I'm burying the bones
I love you like the last shot
At the bottom of the bottle
I love you razor valentine

If anyone wants to play, just ask!

Grabbed from [livejournal.com profile] petronia (along with a song or two ^^):

Do you trust my taste in music? Pick a number between 1 and 1213 and I'll find the corresponding song in my playlist. I'll upload it for you (and everyone else reading this entry) to grab.

I'm mainly doing this because [livejournal.com profile] mitethe said she'd do it too. RIGHT???

In any case, I recently downloaded a song that's been everywhere (at least, that's what it seems to me): Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. It's been in ER, Meet Joe Black, and some toy commercial. I love his high sweet voice coupled with the simple ukulele. *_*

So far:

14: drama CD track
321: Kaiju no Shinden from FINAL FANTASY VII Reunion Tracks
666: La Nuit from Les Choristes
848: Shadow from Paranoia Agent OST
888: Everything in It's Time by Corrine May
911: Kiseki no umi by Sakamoto Maaya
1024: You got game? by Kimeru
1201: unknown Chinese ballad by unknown Chinese singer

From [livejournal.com profile] ramble_corner:

Bold the books you have read
Italicize the books the books you intend to read
Underline you had read to you as a child, or read as a child and cannot remember
Strike the books you didn't finish
Add three

long long long book meme )

I am usually not a fan of these memes partly because they tend to either be totally biased (which this one isn't too badly, I think--a good number of fantasy but there's a lot of classic literature thrown in as well...), or list multiple entries from a series. I HATE THAT. Do not list all of the Wheel of Time series, please. I liked the first two books, but the rest? BAH. I was surprised at some of the books listed...and seeing them made me want to grab the books and read them again. Some I'm pretty sure I read, but couldn't remember anything from. I don't think I liked them much. :P

Anyone who's read both Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco and The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown...Do you think The Da Vinci Code ends up comparing unfavorably to Foucault's Pendulum? I keep thinking they are kind of similar and that The Da Vinci Code won't stand up well against Foucault's Pendulum...which is why I haven't read it yet. My friends who like it haven't read Foucault's Pendulum (and they never will) so they are of no help to me.

Yeah, another meme. Usually I don't do these things but some good ones are going around recently. This one gacked from [livejournal.com profile] bastmoon:

Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2005. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your 'Year In Review'.

あけましておめでとう! Beautiful Soup released the last chapter of Time Lag by Odagiri Hotaru! I spent a whole crapload of money at the local Japanese bookstore when I went to pick up my magazine subscriptions...a big chunk of the cost was due to the Super Eurobeat presents Initial D Fourth Stage D Selection+ album. Well, this week rather sucked (again). Hi, my name is Tounoin Kei and I am normally a hot-shit too sexy for my baton young genius conductor. 1. Sleep earlier. I saw the dub of Howl's Moving Castle last night. Gah. I finally decided to go through all those Kyou Kara Maou episodes that I've been collecting. Wow, I scanned in a lot of stuff tonight. D.Gray-man rabu! Last night I got the third book in a "series" that has managed to captivate me so badly that I can completely overlook any OOC-ness in Tezuka or Ryoma.

And as an extra, the best fangirling post by me this year...Tezuka is to DIE FOR SEXY in this shot! *dies*

XDXD

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] chrysan: Check those you have seen. For TV and OVA series, you have to have watched at least one full episode. For one-shot stuff like films, you have to have watched the whole thing.

Have you ever had that feeling when Monday was a holiday and you go to work on Tuesday feeling like it was Monday and you had five days of work to go but you actually had four so you kind of feel like "bonus!" (though it's not really and I'm just deluding myself)? Well, today was the converse of that. I felt like it was a Tuesday, only to realize that it was only Monday and there were many more days to go. *sighs*

Randomly clicked on a [livejournal.com profile] yaoi_daily post and found myself smiling as I read Otokonoko Catalog by Takahashi Yuu. The art is cute, and Keita, the uke-to-be (I think), is cute. I like how he's shocked that his best friend Shin is making out with another guy, is angry and jealous at losing his best friend, only to have his best friend actually not hook up with the other guy and actually confess to HIM. Go Keita! Baiorensu Uke is the only way to go!

Wow, I bothered to do a meme and it came out totally incomprehensible! Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] svz_insanity:

kind of wish I had iTunes... )
