I recently got Angela Aki's newest album ANSWER and am totally in love with it. Lots of great non-single songs, as well as her fabulous singles. I hadn't particularly liked Tegami~Haikei juugonen no kimi e~ when I first heard it, but after seeing a special on it (it had been chosen as the junior high section theme song for the NHK National School Choir Competition) I grew to really like it. See the PV here.

Two non-single songs I really liked:

Requiem
Our Story

I also typed out and translated the lyrics because I couldn't find anything online. I guess the album is too new? The English translation was quick and dirty...

Though I have not watched nor will probably ever watch the anime ARIA the Natural, I do like the music. The opening song Euforia is disgustingly peaceful and pretty. I even like the singer's high voice. The ending song Rainbow is also laid back, but with a lovely comfortable beat. Baracarole is one of those songs in a made-up language. It is lush and beautiful. *_*

Euforia
Rainbow
Baracarole ~a capella~

I couldn't find a translation for Euforia so I did a quick one. The lyrics are match the feel of the song very well.

For Rainbow, I found Japanese lyrics as well as romaji and a good translation.

And speaking of mellow, pretty music, what better than the Carpenters? A cover by the Indigo: Rainy Days and Mondays

For a more groovy kind of mellow: Color Your Soul by the Korean group Clazziquai

And while slightly repetitive, a nice mellow song with groove is Ito Yuna's newest: Losin'

Finally, back to anime and the pretty mellow: Aozora by I've from AIR

Been trying to catch up with comments, have gotten through some but not nearly all yet. ;_;

Also, a meme I've been putting off for long enough:

Reply and I'll give you a letter and you have to find five songs that start with that letter and post them to your journal.

I got R from [livejournal.com profile] svz_insanity. I tried to pick songs I probably haven't shared before:

Rinnetensei by Core of Soul

Been meaning to share this for ever and ever, but I was having problems translating it (I like the lyrics) and, well, forgot about it until now:

Rinnetensei )

Rise and Shine by Bonnie Pink
Upbeat and disgustingly catchy song from her Golden Tears album.

Reila by Gazette
Catchy rock song from a group I've never heard of. I love the piano riff.

Redemption by Gackt
From the game Dirge of Cerebus, I initially didn't like this song but after hearing it a lot I've come to like it quite a bit.

Razor Valentine by Thea Gilmore
I thought I was going with an all-Japanese list, but I had to include this one. I love the slow, funky feel of the song, the scratchy old record sound, and the bizarre lyrics:

I love you like a whisper
I love you all alone
I love you like a murder babe
I'm burying the bones
I love you like the last shot
At the bottom of the bottle
I love you razor valentine

If anyone wants to play, just ask!

I have recently been listening to a lot of new music, partly thanks to Fafner and partly from mp3 rotation site hopping. I keep meaning to make a post to share the songs that I've been addicted to, but something trumped it. The last song of the Fafner OST2 is a lovely piece sung by what seems to be several females. A sad melody with beautiful harmony. But what made me laugh was when I saw the lyrics. OMG it's so depressing!! I don't know what I was expecting (when I first listen to a song I actually don't pay any attention to the lyrics, so I was basing my first impression solely on the music) but...it was so much better that I had to translate it. First, the song:

Mystic Girl

and then the Japanese lyrics )

the transliteration )

and finally my quick translation )

I particularly love the line "Like a never-ending game of hide and seek." It's so endlessly depressing. XDXD

I was on such a happy crack filled high since yesterday, but then I read the most...sad?...depressing?...せつない? fanfics and that just brought my mood down (but in a good way because I'm an angst whore, but the plunge from total insane silliness is a bit hard on the system).

TO FIT WITH MY MOOD, DOES ANYONE HAVE APPROPRIATELY SAD AND DEPRESSING (YET UTTERLY BEAUTIFUL) MUSIC TO SHARE?

As for me...

For something recent: Breathe Me by Sia [Lyrics]

And for a classic: Koibito yo by Itsuwa Mayumi [Lyrics]

For some reason I couldn't find a translation for this song...I used to nearly sob as a child listening to this song because not only does it sound so SAD and YEARNING and DYING and her voice is low and amazing and perfect, the words are just as bad. It's the imagery of the runner going past, the shooting star and the fallen leaves foretelling a cold tomorrow...thus...

my (literally) five-minute translation )

Read some great...er...I guess I can't even call them drabbles. The [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence community features one sentence for each of 50 themes. [livejournal.com profile] shokora_kukki is doing the set for ConYuu and posted four theme sentences.

And on to the music:

I've recently been completely obsessed with my newest aquisition--Yano Maki's album Takaramono. One of the best tracks on the (very excellent) album:

Otenki by Yano Maki
Lyrics and translation

And other random music:

Promise by TiA
Re:Start by Surface

I got the Yakitate! Japan OP and ED thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sorezore_noyume, and I'm totally addicted to Promise! I'm sure almost everyone already has the music as they've seen the anime and have heard the music, but to those (few) who haven't seen the anime...the music is super catchy!

Fly Away by Corrinne May

Reupped this one, so another chance to grab it. It's a great song, really.

I got some new CDs last night and really wanted to translate one of the songs...but the lyrics are handwritten! Not only handwritten, but they're in chicken scratch! >_< I don't want to bother deciphering the words, but I am itching to translate some song lyrics. My mind is drawing a blank right now, so...

Does anyone want Japanese lyrics translated? If so, please give me the lyrics (NOT romaji--a decent scan from the CD booklet would work) and a copy of the song. Please. I really want to translate some songs.
