They don't want people to redistribute their releases. See Xan's comment below (http://www.livejournal.com/users/insaneneko/106161.html?thread=618161#t618161). A scanlation group had previously said that they would delay new releases unless people stopped redistrubuting their works, but they have since rescinded that policy. It's just all lame.

So Nakama's still at it, eh? YET, THEY, like the others, won't directly enforce THEIR rules. They would sooner have communities and forums enforce THEIR rules for them. WTF?

I think many scanlation groups have forgotten WHY they're scanlating. I swear if I win the lottery, I will PAY translators and graphic manip people to create FREE scanlations for everyone. I'm sorry that I can't learn Japanese, but so many stories are just too good to not translate.

Well... in my case, I so studiously avoid Nakama now that I have no clue whose mangaka they are now peddling as I just can't stand them (the group, not the mangaka ^_^)... talk about shooting oneself in the foot. They are corrupting their whole reason of "supposedly" being in their lust for brown-nosing by the stupid fans (oh... Nakama... to hear the fans talk, they are god-gift to the fangirls *as if*).

Obviously forums and comms must enforce their rules because they are all so important to fandom and their wishes must be obeyed. *rolls eyes* They've lost touch with a lot of things, including the reason people scanlate.

Reading the thread is very enlightening... too bad people are too afraid to just tell Nakama to SHOVE it... and start sharing the raws with some souls summarizing the stuff (who cares about the actual dialogue, anyway? My fav. Haru translations are the ones I get from France which are long detailed summaries, not straight-forward dialogue translations... THAT reminds me I should start working on translating the first 3 chapters of Vol. 10 now that I got those... so I can share them later with my French-deprived friends :P).

I'm all for raws and summaries! Believe me. That's all I need to get through a manga. Although I'm getting better on my own just having been exposed to manga for over a year now and seeing certain trends etc. But some books totally counfound me and summaries are vital. For the well written books, direct translations would be very nice.

Well, seems like Nakama is just bitchy in general, since their IRC channel is supposedly on the unfriendly side (or so I've heard). Of course they own the material...they went through the trouble of buying the manga, scanning it all in (illegally), translating and editing, then releasing it, right?

I'm not discouting the time & efforts involved with scanning & translating a manga BUT it's nothing without the source material... the creation is not done by them. Therefore I draw a line at their acting up like they OWN the piece...

Seems like too many groups fall into the trap of thinking they own the manga, and that they have rights. *shrugs* I wish if they were going to be so bitchy about it all they should stop pretending to want to share the yaoi love like they say they do on their sites. Obviously they want to set up a mini online kingdom where they are worshipped as the source of yaoi or something.
