ETA3: Added TRC figurines and Square Enix The World of Mana (what is this anyhow?) plushies

ETA2: Added a Hikago Sai fan keyholder and xxxHOLIC/TRC stamp set.

ETA: I found another mug cup in a random drawer while cleaning today. T_T It's a Karekano Pero Pero mug cup I already have and use....Why I have two, I don't know. In any case, see below for pics.

While digging through my closet I discovered the mother-lode of goods I'd pretty neatly stuck into a bunch of boxes. They were kind of heavy and took up a good amount of room, so I decided to cull. A lot of it was easy because I had this horrible habit of buying two sets of stationary...So there are lots of letter sets below. I also found things that baffled me. Why the hell would I have bought them? I realized that some of them were given to me, thus explaining their presence without me having to resort to a temporary lapse in judgement. In any case, I did a mad run of picture taking and uploading of stuff I wouldn't mind parting with.

Prices are in US dollars, they don't include shipping. Some of the items (such as the mugs and bowl) are heavier, thus will cost more to ship. I may also have to buy a box or a package to send these things safely. Please don't ask how much postage will be...I won't know until I go to the post office. I don't have a scale, unfortunately. I'd prefer payment in postal money orders for those in the US. If anyone outside of the US wants any of this stuff, I'd prefer international money orders. I'd like Paypal to be a last resort.

OH!OH!OH!!! Silver Diamond fic!! Trust Your Eyes by [livejournal.com profile] baka_neko made me purr in pleasure....I love my flist. XD

Also, apparently the theme for April at [livejournal.com profile] fst is "singles." Some cool sounding singles have been uploaded so far such as Impossible Phone-call: Euphie to Lelouch (As the summary states: "This single is from Euphie to Lelouch, for the final three episodes of season one, or that phonecall Lelouch might have expected." The thing is I don't even watch this show--Code Geass--but it intrigued me. XD) and Be Sweet: Ichinose Takumi (an FST about Takumi (from Nana)? I'm glad not everyone loves to hate him so...) among many others I've got open on tabs that I'll eventually download...probably...

And to end with utter pointlessness...

How I read the headline "Sabres blow by Pens to clinch No. 1 seed in East": "Sabres blow by Penis..."

Did a WTF? double-take, realized my mistake, laughed, and kept going...

friday!

Before I forget (again), Dangerous Pleasure has released the next chapter of "In the Walnut" by Kawai Toko. How I love this manga. It's really only peripherally BL, but I love the heart-tugging aspects and the art (as always). They have a zillion different ways to download the chapter at their site. On a side note, I became very annoyed at Kawai-sensei and her editor while translating the chapter. While doing research on the chapter, I initially searched online for "Paul Clay" because on a book in the background that was how the artist featured in the chapter was spelled. I found NOTHING and started wondering if he was even a real artist. When I searched under the Japanese katakana, I hit the jackpot. Paul KLEE. Hello, not that hard to find out the correct way to spell the name. >_< Translating becomes so much more difficult when the original material is just plain wrong.

It's amazing how cliched romance novels work or don't work. This latest crop I got this week I'm only lukewarm about. I'm going to try reading them again to see if I was missing something the first time around, but I feel somehow let down. At least the art is pretty nice, though.

From [livejournal.com profile] mirichan, it looks like Winter Cicada (Fuyu no Semi) from Haru wo Daiteita is going to be animated. Ah...lovely tragic love story. I've been trying to find some kind of official confirmation and failing. So far I found one reference to the OVA on a Japanese blog. *sighs*

Via [livejournal.com profile] arisuesei, the main NANA anime cast as announced in Cookie:

なな (Nana): 朴ろみ (Paku Romi)
奈奈 (Nana): KAORI
ヤス (Yasu):川原慶久 (Yoshihisa Kawahara)
ノブ (Nobu):関智一 (Seki Tomokazu)
シン (Shin):石田彰 (Ishida Akira)
タクミ (Takumi):森川智之 (Morikawa Toshiyuki)
レン (Ren):木内秀信 (Kiuchi Hidenobu)
レイラ (Reira):平野綾 (Hirano Aya)

Paku Romi? My initial reaction was "Huh?" It'll be interesting to hear her as Nana. The others I'm not sure about, except for Seki. That one is too easy to imagine. ^^;

This weekend has been quite full of great fangirling. First, H2. Then today I finally decide to tackle the pile of Nana manga I've been running into in the living room...and boy am I glad I did. Wow. Read up to volume 11 (okay, it was more like skimming some parts and reading some parts but this manga is just full of words and I'll eventually go back and read the whole thing, every word) and...it's so damn good! GAH! I want more, but I'm trying to keep myself from remembering that there's two more volumes out that I don't have. ;_; I love how complex and individual each character is. I love how people do the wrong things and know they're doing the wrong things but can't help it because that's the way they are and it all sucks...you know, like real life. *sighs*

Then I downloaded various things from [livejournal.com profile] bl_recs and reading them. Very ho-hum (especially after Nana), but there was one that I liked because it was a BL ghost story with powerful and tragic yearning called So wa Reirei no Yukini Mai by Ishihara Satoru (can be downloaded here if you are a member of the comm).

Then I read two excellent fics. The first was a rec by [livejournal.com profile] svz_insanity, a Veela!Draco H/D fic called A Consummation Devoutly to be Wished by Mirabella. Damn funny! Draco is so damn snarky it's adorable. Then I was poking around the author's site and came upon A Crown of Hollow Stars, a beautifully written Star Wars Obi-Wan/Anakin and Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon fic. It drips with such tense feelings, such sadness and longing and finally despair and anger. I love how Anakin sees so clearly, especially at the end.

And now I will go and read the PoT doujinshi I had read and lost last week, which I had been searching all over the damn place for, but finally found in the stupidest place possible. Ah, what a lovely Sunday...

I went to the friendly neighborhood Japanese bookstore to pick up whatever they had of the rest of the Nana manga, but of course they were missing one volume in the middle. Does anyone happen to have a digital copy of volume 7? I will buy it at some point, but it'd be nice to be able to read everything after 7 soon...

I also saw the Nana movie soundtrack at the store. I was very tempted, but frankly I don't remember the BGM very well. Does anyone have a copy of this and can share? I'd like to hear before I plunk down the money.

I hope someone can help me. :P

I was so damn tired on Monday that I decided that watching a movie was a great way to do something fannish and be off my feet for a couple of hours. I chose to watch Nana. Well...that was a brilliant choice, because it was a pretty good movie. More importantly, it made me want to read the manga.

As movie adaptations of long-running series go, it was pretty good. It had the usual problems with having to compress x volumes of story into a movie, but I could forgive them because it was more or less coherent and enjoyable for me, being completely unfamiliar with the series. I don't know how a major fan would react, though. It helped that the music kicked ass. ^__^ The one thing that drove me batty was the way live-action Japanese dramas set up scenes of great tenderness or great fantasy. They are very stiff. I used to watch a lot of Japanese dramas, and they had the same problem. I don't know if it's just the style they like, or they just suck, but it really bothers me. :P

So, I do own the first five volumes of the manga. I just never got around to reading them. The movie made me interested enough in the characters that when I got home I skimmed them. It was interesting seeing the differences in plot and character. I am very happy to say that the manga is far more complex and, well, just better. The character's have more facets to them (esp the secondary characters, who are not very well-developed in the movie), and their interactions are a lot more complicated and engrossing. The plot, it goes without saying, is much more involved and...better (I need a bigger vocabulary ^_^;).

In any case, I also bought the November Cookie to get the extra, a little charm with a white dog and black cat because it's too damn cute! It was worth the 400 yen! XD

To celebrate finding a new series to follow (now I have to pick up the rest of the volumes...where does all my money go?), I uploaded Nana music. I vaguely remember seeing links to the songs earlier this month, but I think they need to be shared more!

First the Black Stones song that I kept hearing in music stores, then in the theatre before the movie, then in the movie several times...I think I've been brainwashed into loving this song:

Glamorous Sky

It helps that Nakashima Mika sings it. I love that voice. ^__^

And the Trap Nest songs. Endless Story is used perfectly as BGM for some scenes. I don't remember where the hell Journey is used, but they are both very nice songs:

Endless Story
Journey

And as a bonus, the bestest song from the Love for Nana tribute album I was all ga-ga over a while back:

Give Me All of Your Love!! by Tommy Heavenly 6
